The following day, Chaewon wakes up with a hangover.

Chaewon's never had a hangover.

Because in the time before Yunjin, Chaewon was a planner. And hangovers aren't exactly something you plan for. They're something you actively avoid.

She has no idea how to deal with this conundrum so like any individual in the 21st century, Chaewon begins with a quick Google search.

Of course, the blue light from her laptop aggravates her photophobia: a side effect of her hangover, Chaewon quickly learns.

Chaewon shuts her blinds to shroud her apartment in darkness, not letting a sliver of light escape through a nook or cranny. She dons her darkest pair of shades and noise cancelling headphones because phonophobia is yet another unwelcome side effect of her hangover.

She medicates with an aspirin and waits for it to kick in.

But it doesn't work fast enough.

Chaewon gets down on her hands and knees, pressing her forehead to the ground, hitting a new low-literally.

"My head! Fuck!"

Chaewon rarely throws F-bombs, so when she does, it's potent and she means it. She lays down on her kitchen floor and swears to never get this drunk again.

It isn't worth it. The drawbacks of drinking outweigh the benefits. Her head is throbbing. She can hear her own head. She feels like she's dying. Maybe she's coming down with that made-up time distortion disease that Kazuha claimed to have.

Chaewon genuinely feels like she's reached the end of her days.

Well, if this is it, if these are her last moments, she sure as hell isn't going to spend them thrashing around in her condo.

"What's with the costume?" Yunjin asks, over Facetime. "You hiding from the paparazzi?"

"Hangover..." Chaewon groans.

"Ah, bummer. I was gonna ask if you wanted to go on a road trip with me today. Not an overnight thing, we'd be back by dinner time. But if you're not feeling good, I guess we could go some other day."

"No," Chaewon rubs her eyelids, "Let's go. I have to do something. I can't just lay here and die."

"You'll be fine, baby. You've had a hangover before, right?"

Chaewon responds with silence.

"Oh," Yunjin realizes, "Oh, my sweet summer child. You must be going through hell. Ok. Shiro and I are coming to pick you up."

Yunjin will abandon everything, all her prior obligations, at the drop of the hat, just for Chaewon.

If Chaewon asks her to jump, Yunjin won't ask her why.

Instead, she'll ask "How high?" or "Off what surface?" or "Do you want me to throw in a backflip too?"

Blind loyalty. Maybe that's one of Yunjin's seeds of potential.

"Please promise me that whatever we do today, it won't involve light or making a lot of noise," Chaewon begs.

"I don't know about that, Chaewon. You sure make a lot of noise whenever we're togeth-"

(It's Chaewon's fault for walking right into that one).

"K bye!"
