It was the middle of the night in Kanata, and the apocalypse just hit. Nobody knew that it was going to happen, and hardly anyone was ready for it, either. Thirteen year olds Kyle and Allena were sleeping, until they heard a lot of noises come from downstairs.
"What, was that?!" Allena whispered. Then she heard screaming. She ran out of her room and down the stairs, where she froze in her tracks. What she had expected was a zombie, and her dad, were basically wrestling in the living room.
"Good zombie..." her dad said nervously. The zombie threw her dad to the ground, and attacked.
"No!" Allena cried as she turned away. She heard another gun shot. She slowly turned around around again to see what just happened. The zombie was dead on the ground, her dad was alive, and someone else appeared.
"What are you doing here?" Her dad asked the man.
"The apocalypse has just started and it is madness. We need to fight them with the rest of the army." The person replied.
"Well I have kids, what are they supposed to do?"
"They're going to be just fine." He said. "Oh... Alright." Said her dad.
"But you can't leave!" Allena heard a very familiar voice say. As she peeked around the corner, she saw her older brother standing there.
"Kyle, Look. I know the apocalypse will be hard, but I really have to fight these zombies." Their dad told Kyle.
After a few minutes, Their dad and his friend left.
"Well, if I don't find Allena soon, I'm completely on my own. Where the heck is she?!" Kyle said to himself nervously.
"I'm right here, in the hallway!" Allena replied.
"Oh my gosh you're alive!" He exclaimed.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Allena asked .
"Uh, I don't know, zombies are everywhere?!" Kyle said sarcastically.
"Right......" Allena said slowly.
A few seconds later, a low and creepy growling noise came from the kitchen. As Allena turned around, she saw a zombie coming right after her.
"Oh no, Zombie!" She screamed.
Kyle ran out of the living room to find something, anything to kill the zombie. But Allena was not about to give up. She did all she could to kill it, but it wasn't going to well. The zombie somehow managed to push Allena up against the wall, and she had nothing to defend herself with, and nearly got bit. A minute or two later, Kyle returned with a gun and killed the zombie.
"Have a good nap zombie." He muttered.
"Thanks Kyle, I probably would've died if you didn't do that." Allena said
"No problem, kid. But right now, we need to pack whatever we can find, and get out of here!" He replied.
A few minutes later, Kyle and Allena were outside with a few bags, planning on how they were going to get out of Kanata.
"So... You're seriously going to hot wire a car?" Allena asked nervously.
"Just trust me, it'll work out fine!" Kyle exclaimed.
Allena agreed, but she was still positive that this was another one of his dimwitted plans.
20 minutes later, she seemed to be proven wrong.
"Ha! I got it!" Kyle exclaimed.
"Nice! Now get us out of here!" Allena said. As much as Kyle was good with hacking into things, he just knew he couldn't drive a car.
He stepped on the gas and automatically ran into a tree.
"Ow! Really!" Allena said annoyed.
"Sorry." Kyle said. "Can I try again?"
"Okay, just try and be more careful." Allena answered. So he tried again. Kyle was on a roll for about 8 seconds, until he had to make a turn. he turned the wheel over to the right to far, and ran into the mailbox. This kind of cycle went on for 3 minutes, when the car broke.
"Oops." Said Kyle.
"Oops?! That's all you have to say is OOPS?! Our only hope of getting out of here was that dang car, and now it's broken!!" Allena screamed.
"Woah. Calm down...." Kyle said. "I can fix it."
"Sorry, I just freaked out a little."
So eventually He did fix the car, and was about to get into the driver seat.
"Oh no. This time, I'm driving.". Said Allena. So she climbed into the front seat and started to drive. She had a few mistakes, but none of them were as bad as Kyle's. "Holy.....Cow." He muttered.
"How am I better then you at this?" Allena asked.
"Honestly, I don't know." Kyle replied.
About 30 minutes later, they arrived in Pembroke to find their grandparents house. "Whoa, look at this place. It's completely....." Said Allena.
"Infested?" Kyle asked finishing the sentence. About a minute later, there was a lot of screaming and growling. "RUN! ZOMBIES!!!" The two of them screamed. Kyle and Allena ran straight for the car and drove far away into the forest.
"Woah, so that's what the apocalypse is like." Kyle said.
"It's scaring me...." Allena said nervously.
"Me too. But we'll be fine, I promise. It'll all be over soon I'm sure." He said.
So a half hour later, Kyle and Allena managed to make a fire, and find somethings to help them survive.
"Hey Kyle, I know what happened to dad but...where's mom?" Allena asked.
"Well you see here," He started. "At the start of the apocalypse, it was too dark to see anything, and mom got attacked, and quite possibly killed."
"Oh my gosh...." Allena said.
"But don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you." Kyle said hoping it would cheer Allena up.
An hour later, they both fell asleep. Only to get enough silence before the next attack came. This isn't the end of the story yet either.
