Chapter 32

After that whole fiasco, the group gathered some supplies and headed back to the camp. When they got back, Fawn explained to everyone about Bear.
"So, about Bear. The shelter was in a horrible condition. I feel just horrible about all the animals still there. That place should get shut down. Anyways, I noticed one of the kennels had a big red circle sticker on it, so I asked what that meant. The lady said that that meant he was going to be put to sleep.. And-" Fawn got chocked up and tears formed in her eyes. Kyle came up to her and gave her a hug.
"It's ok.. He's safe now. You saved him, with your big heart. Sometimes I worry that your going to get yourself into trouble trying to save an animal.." Kyle said supportively.
"Thanks Kyle. And the lady said I couldn't adopt him so I stole him. I know that stealing is wrong, but I wasn't just going to leave him. So I stole him. And now he's going to stay with us! I always wanted a dog anyways... And now Gretzky and Morning have a friend!" Fawn said.
"Yay! A puppy! I love him already!" Scarlett exclaimed giving the dog a big hug.
"I think he's really cute Fawn!" Venus added.
"Thanks guys.. I'm really sorry about putting this on all of you right now, after all that's happened. I feel like such a mess up." Fawn said sadly.
"It's ok!" Allena exclaimed happily. For the rest of the day the group just relaxed, and rested a bit after all that just happened. Near the end of the day, Fawn took the dog for a walk. When she was headed back with Bear, he ran into the bush after something and started barking wildly. He seemed worried, and chased after whatever it was. He didn't come back for 30 minutes, when Fawn got worried.
"Guys?" She asked the group.
"I don't know where Bear went. I was taking him for a walk, then he started barking. He ran off, and now he hasn't come back. I'm really worried..." Fawn said nervously.
"It's ok, I'm sure he will come back!" Allena reassured her.
"Just give it over the night Fawn. I know that he will be back by morning! Don't worry!" Kyle said trying to make Fawn feel better.
"Thanks... I will give it the night, but I'm still worried.." Fawn said worriedly.
"Don't worry, he will come back." Tyler said.
"Yeah!" Nani added.
So they waited overnight, and he still didn't come back. Fawn started to get really worried in the morning, when she decided to leave and look for him. She was searching for around 1 hour, when she started finding clues...
"Is that.. No it can't be.. Bear's collar!" Fawn thought. She went to have a closer look when she heard rustling in the bushes.
"G-guys? Is that you?" Fawn asked scared. She quickly picked up the collar and continued her search when she found another clue.
"Some fur? Oh no maybe he got attacked by an animal.. Oh no.. I better keep going this way because this is where he seems to be going.." She thought. Fawn walked in the same direction for another 2 hours when she heard more noises.
"Bear!" Fawn called hoping that the dog would come rushing back to her. Long story short, it wasn't Bear. In fact, it wasn't even one of the group members. It was a military man.
"Oh no.." Fawn said nervously.
"Oh yes!" The man said eerily. He then loaded his gun and said:
"We are going to make this quick and easy. Instead of bringing you to the base we are going to kill you here. I'm going to count to three." The military man said.
"NO!" Fawn yelled.
"One!" The man yelled.
"Two!"
"Is this the end for real this time?" Fawn thought.
"Three!" And then the man shot. It was around half an hour later when the group woke up and realized that she was gone.
"Oh no..." Allena said nervously. Everyone in the group was awake except for Kyle. Allena was debating whether or not to wake him up and tell him the news.
"Kyle..." Allena said trying to wake Kyle up.
"What? Allena..." Kyle groaned.
"You slept in.. And I have to tell you something..." Allena started.
"What?" Kyle asked.
"Well.. You see.. Fawn is gone, we can't find her anywhere!" Allena said really worriedly.
"WHAT?!" Kyle yelled. It was only a mere 5 minutes before he was dressed and ready to search.
"I know why she left. She was looking for that dog, he ran away after something last night." Kyle said. He seemed very nervous.
"Oh no.." Nani said.
"G-guys.. Where is Fawn?" Scarlett asked. She looked really upset.
"It's ok Scar, we will find her!" Mika said trying to cheer Scarlett up. Kyle walked to where the group was.
"Ok.. We need to go out and find her. Who knows where she could be! Oh Fawn..." Kyle said worriedly.
"I'm thinking we should go in that direction." Tyler said pointing. "Didn't you say she was looking for Bear over there?" Nani asked.
"Yes. That's a good idea.. Does everyone have everything that they need?" Tyler asked.
"Yep!" Venus exclaimed.
"I think so!" Caden said.
"Poor Fawn..." Allena said. She was probably one of the most worried besides Kyle and Scarlett.
"No time to waste guys! We need to go! Everyone follow me.." Kyle said as he began to walk in the direction that Fawn went with the group behind him.
"And don't forget to stick together... Scarlett and Mika..." Caden muttered.
"Fine..." The girls said in unison. After a little walking, the group started to find clues that Fawn had been there. They found some footprints in some mud, so they knew that they where going in the right direction. Ten minutes later, they found her. She was shot in the side, and looked dead.
"FAWN!!!" Kyle yelled. Then he ran over to her, really fast.
"Come on! Wake up, wake up wake up...." He said nervously.
"What happened?!" Mika asked.
Then Kyle saw the bullet hole, and bit his lip to try and not cry.
"She... She got... Shot." He stammered.
"I think she's dead." He added really quietly.
"WHAT?!" The group yelled. All of the sudden, Allena went really pale.
"No...Fawn...Oh my god..." She said shakily. Then she fainted. Before her head hit the ground, Nani caught her.
"Not the time... She'll come to eventually..." She muttered.
"Is Fawn okay?" Scarlett asked really sadly. Venus shook her head. Then Scarlett began crying.
"S-she can't die!" She exclaimed. Then Mika ran over to her to try and clam her down. Tried.
"Perhaps we got here a little to late?" Tyler said. Then Kyle glared at him.
"That's ALL you have to SAY?! WHAT THE-?!" He yelled. Realizing what he said, Tyler looked at the ground guiltily. Caden walked over beside Kyle.
"Look... I'm sorry man. It must be hard." He said slowly.
"It is." Kyle said quietly. Then Caden looked at Fawn. She almost looked like she was breathing.
"Is she... Breathing?" Caden asked.
"Say what now?!" Kyle asked shocked.
"Yeah. You heard me!" Caden exclaimed hopefully. Then Kyle grabbed Fawn's hand to see if she had a pulse. She did.
"Oh my god... GUYS!" He yelled.
"What is it?" Nani asked.
"I found out that she's alive!" He exclaimed.
"Are you freaking kidding?! I DID!" Caden retorted.
"WHATEVER." Kyle answered.
"If she's alive, we've got to get her to the hospital, and FAST." Venus said nervously. Then Allena woke up.
"What happened...?" She asked.
"Wait a minute... You fainted?" Tyler asked.
"Yeah." Allena replied. Then she saw Fawn. "Fawn's dead... Isn't she?" She  asked.
"Actually, No!" Mika exclaimed.
"What?!" Allena asked shocked.
"She's breathing! Kyle figured it out!" Scarlett yelled happily.
"For the last time, it was ME!" Caden cried.
"Let's just go. We probably don't have much time!" Kyle exclaimed nervously.
"If you don't mind me asking, where are we going?" Allena asked.
"We're taking Fawn to the hospital to see if we can get her to wake up." Caden said.
"How are we going to get her there?" Mika asked.
"I think I might be able to carry her..." Kyle said. 
"Are you sure about that Kyle?" Venus asked skeptically. 
"Yep. Pretty sure." He replied.  It took him a few seconds, but he eventually did get Fawn.  Since it was only the day before that Greztky got attacked, some of the kids still remembered the way to the hospital, and got there within 3 hours.  When they got there, they split up again.  Kyle and Scarlett stayed with Fawn, Nani went with Venus, Tyler went with Mika, and Caden went with Allena.  Nani and Venus found somethings, but they weren't so sure if that was the right stuff.  They were about to go back with what they had, when they heard something drop on the floor.
"Oh crap." A voice said.
"Did you hear that?" Nani asked.
"Yeah... Do you think it was the group?" Venus replied.
"No. We'd see them." Nani said.  Then they heard more noises.  Venus turned around, and noticed there was another room on the right. 
"I think they came from in there." She told Nani.  Then they opened the door.  When they did, a woman who had a lot of things in her hands looked at them slightly startled. 
"Oh! It's just you two." She said relived.
"What are you doing with those?" Venus asked.
"Well, before the Apocolypse, I used to be a doctor here.  I told my group that I'd find some medical supplies here." She explained.
"If it's not a problem... We have a friend that got shot... Can you help us?" Nani asked sadly. 
"Of course! I don't need to be back anyway." The doctor answered happily.  She showed Nani and Venus where they could find the stitches and other useful things, and 7 minutes later they went back.
"Who's that?!" Kyle asked pointing at the lady.
"She said that she was going to help us stitch up Fawn.  She was a doctor here." Venus explained.
"Oh, okay! Sorry I over reacted." Kyle said slightly embarrassed. A few minutes later, the other 4 came back and showed what they got. Tyler and Mika actually got some pretty decent stuff that nobody thought of, but Caden and Allena didn't have much at all. What they did grab was either half empty, someone already had it, or was just plain pointless. Mika leaned over and picked up a medicine container.
"You two grabbed ADVIL?!" She asked.
"Why on earth would you get Advil?!" Kyle asked. Caden and Allena looked at each other.
"Well, we thought since Advil's a painkiller, and after the numbing stuff wears off, Fawn's side is gonna really hurt..." Caden explained.
"Yeah. I guess it wasn't the best idea." Allena added embarrassed.
"It's actually a good thought!" Nani exclaimed.
"So... Shall we begin?" The doctor asked.
"Yes. The sooner the better. We don't have much time left." Kyle said nervously.
"Oh Fawn... Please pull through.." Allena thought silently in her mind. Around 1 hour later, the doctor was done. She explained what to do next, and how to take care of the bullet hole properly. She also said that if Fawn doesn't wake up in a half hour, she probably never will. That last part got Kyle worried, because 40 minutes later, Fawn still wasn't awake. Her chances where looking pretty slim, when Tyler pointed out the obvious.
"Well, the doctor did say that if she wasn't up in half an hour, she wouldn't wake up. It's been over a half hour already. Maybe she won't-" Tyler started.
"SHUT UP! Don't ever say that ever.." Kyle glared at Tyler.
"All I'm saying is.. What if she doesn't wake up? What will we do then?" Tyler asked.
Allena cringed. She couldn't bear the thought.
"STOP! DONT SAY THAT!!!! JUST SHUT UP!" Kyle yelled.
"Sorry man.." Tyler said. Tyler wasn't really the best in a crisis.
"What? Did you say that F-Fawn won't wake up?" Scarlett whimpered.
"No. She'll be ok I promise. We all know her well, we know she'll pull through." Mika said trying to comfort Scarlett.
"Tyler had a point.. What if she doesn't wake up? What would we do.. Like.. You know.. With the body.." Venus asked. Just then Kyle left the room. He was pretty upset.
"I'm going to go find him." Allena said. And then she left to look for Kyle. When she found him, he was in the corner of a small office, looking like he was just crying a little.
"Look.." Allena started. "This is really hard on all of us. But we don't have to worry. We know Fawn, and we know that she is going to pull through. She has to. And she will." Allena said comfortingly.
"But.. What about what Venus said.. About if she, if she... Oh I can't even say it! What would we do? We're only kids.. We don't know how to, you know, direct a funeral or anything." Kyle said sadly. He looked as if he gave up all hope that Fawn was ever going to wake up...
Meanwhile, in the other room. The rest of the group was still waiting on Fawn to wake up.
"Anytime now would be nice Fawn... Anytime.." Caden said nervously.
"Oh Fawn..." Nani said worriedly.
"Look Fawn..." Tyler started. "I don't know if you can hear me, or anything like that. But I'm sorry that I was talking about if you died. But you can't die, you can't. Kyle would never forgive himself, and Scarlett would have no family left. You have all of us as friends! We miss you... Your boy friend can't even be in the same room anymore he's so worried.." Tyler whispered. Then Caden came up to him.
"He mainly left the room because of you though.." Caden muttered.
"I heard that!" Tyler laughed and then playfully punched Caden's arm.
"I know!" Mika exclaimed.
"What?" Everyone asked.
"Maybe if we bring Bear in with Fawn, she'll wake up! She loves Bear! The whole reason this happened was because of Bear!" Mika said.
"Good idea!" Nani exclaimed. "I'll go bring him in!" And so she did. They brought Bear into the room and left him in there alone with Fawn in hopes that she would wake up.
They went to find Kyle.
"Hey..." Venus said.
"Hi." Kyle said.
"Look I'm sorry about saying what I did. I know that she'll wake up, so we don't have to worry about that. I'm sorry." Venus apologized.
"It's ok." Kyle said. "I'm just really worried. She has been out for over an hour now!"
All of a sudden, the group heard someone curse from the room that Fawn was in.
"Wait a minute..." Allena said.
"That can't be!" Mika exclaimed happily.
"FAWN!!!" Kyle yelled. He was the first one into the room to see her awake.
"Oh my gosh.. Fawn!" Kyle said happily. He then gave her a hug.
"What? What happened? Where am I?" Fawn asked. 
"You got shot in the side.  I don't know by who though.  But whenever I see them again, they're DEAD." Kyle explained. 
"I remember that now, but where wee we?" Fawn asked.
"The hospital.  You were out for an hour!" He exclaimed.
"Oh... Really?" Fawn asked shocked. Then the rest of the group came.
"FAWN!!!!" Scarlett yelled as she ran up to her and gave Fawn a really big hug.
"Hey Scar!" Fawn exclaimed.
"Oh my gosh I was so worried!!" Allena cried.
"Same!" Nani added.
"Well, I'm awake now!" Fawn said reassuringly. "Although my side really hurts. Do you guys have anything for that by any chance?" She added. Caden and Allena looked at each other, then started laughing really hard.
"What's so funny?" Mika asked.
"The Advil!!" Allena managed to say.
"You guys said it was useless!" Caden added still laughing.
"We didn't say that!.... We were thinking it." Tyler replied.
"It's getting pretty late guys. I'm thinking that we should stay in the hospital overnight and leave for the camp in the morning. At least this room has walls and a door." Nani suggested.
"Good idea. Where are we going to sleep?" Tyler asked.
"On the floor I guess. But I think I may have seen some spare blankets in pillows in that closet over there." Nani pointed. The group then grabbed the pillows and blankets and set themselves up a make shift bed.
