So the next day, Kyle got Scarlett and told her he was going to teach her how to use a gun.
"Okay Scarllet, this is very easy to learn how to do. Plus, with this being the apocalypse and all, it's almost necessary to learn." He said.
"Why is it necessary?" Scarlett asked curiously.
"Just in case you ran into a zombie, and there was nobody there to help you." Kyle answered. He did a demenstration for her, just to show her what to do.
"Now do you wanna try?" He asked.
"Okay! Goody gumdrops!" Scarlett exlaimed. Kyle handed Scarlett the gun and showed her how to hold it.
"Do you mean like this?" She asked pointing the gun right at Kyle.
"Woah woah woah hey hey NO!" He exlaimed throwing his hands up. Then he walked over to her and pointed the gun in the right direction.
"Okay... NOW what do I do?" She asked.
"Did you not just hear me?"
"No, I was thinking about candy. Speaking of that, I'll be right back, I'm gonna get some Skittles!"
"Uhhh... I'm not sure if that's a good idea.." Kyle said nervously. He knew that is Scarlett ate too much sugar, it doesn't take very long at all for her to go on a sugar rush. And he didn't think he was ready for that quite yet
"It's okay, I eat candy all the time!" Scarlett exclaimed.
"Well maybe later. I think we should just learn this for now-" Kyle was about to explain all over again, but Scarlett cut him off by talking about Skittles again.
"Can you please focus?" Kyle asked exasperated. But she wasn't listening.
"Man! I would really hate to be your kindergarten teacher!" He suddenly yelled.
"I'm not in kindergarten." She replied.
"W-wait, what do you mean, you're 5, you should be in school. Or, should have been before all this happened."
"Well you see here, my family was really poor and didn't have the money to put me or Fawn in school. Instead, they sent us off to do work in the community..."
"Oh... wow... Sorry about that..." Kyle said slowly. He was starting to feel quite a bit of sympathy for both Fawn and Scarlett now.
"First they're Panda People, and basically unwanted by the government , then their parents are killed, and NOW they didn't even get an education! Can a person's life get any worse than this?" He thought sadly. He wished there was something he could do for them.
"You don't need to be sorry! I'm sure school is BORING anyway!" Scarlett exclaimed, snapping Kyle out of his thoughts.
"Oh, believe me, It is! But you really do need it." He replied. "Anyways, Let's start this thing over." He said. Kyle started explaining the gun to Scarlett a second time, and this time she listened.
"So, do you think you've got it now?" He asked.
"Heck yeah I do!" She exclaimed.
"Okay so I made a target and put it on that tree right over there, I want you to aim the gun at it, and shoot." He said. Then he pointed at a tree with a rainbow colored target on it.
"Awesome!" Scarlett cheered. Kyle handed her the gun, and she aimed at the target. Then she closed her eyes and pulled the trigger.
"Did I hit it, did I hit it?!" She asked cheerfully. Kyle walked over to the tree to get a closer look, then walked back to Scarlett.
"I don't think so... Maybe it would work better if you kept your eyes open!" He replied rather sarcastically.
So Scarlett aimed again, only this time with her eyes open.
At the same time, Allena and Nani and came to the same spot as the tree. They had been exploring the woods and had just came back to the camp.
"What in the world is THAT doing there?" Nani asked, looking at the target.
"I really don't know." Allena replied. Since neither Kyle or Scarlett saw them, Scarlett went ahed and pulled the trigger. As the bullet hit the target, Allena and Nani screamed.
"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Allena cried.
"We nearly DIED!" Nani added.
"Wait, who is that?" Scarlett asked. "It's either a person or I'm eating way to many Skittles!"
Just then, Kyle saw Allena and Nani.
"What the heck are you two DOING?" He asked.
"What are WE doing, what are you doing?!" Nani replied.
"Teaching Scarlett how to use a gun, what did you think that target was for?!"
"I don't know, and I don't care!" Nani exclaimed.
"You two could have DIED!" Kyle retorted.
"Well, at least the bullet hit the target and not us." Allena added.
"It did?!" Scarlett asked cheerfully.
"Hey, it did!" Nani replied.
"Let's try that a few more times. Well, whenever those two GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Kyle said.
"You don't have to tell me twice!" Allena said running away from the tree.
Scarlett then proceeded to shoot the gun at the target again once Nani had left as well. She hit the outside of the target. On her fourth try, she hit it right in the middle.
"BULLSYE!" Scarlett cheered.
"Nice!" Kyle said. "You know, you're a real natural at this. I think you're ready."
"I am?" She asked.
"Yep. Just don't do anything stupid with that gun, alright?"
