As the group was walking back to the cabin, Fawn found a run-down animal shelter.
"Woah woah wait!" She exclaimed.
"What is it?" Nani asked.
"Is... Is that an animal shelter?" Fawn asked.
"Perhaps..." Caden replied.
"I think I might go and check it out..." She said.
"But, you don't know what's in there!" Kyle exclaimed.
"I'll be fine. You guys can go ahead, I won't be long in there." Fawn answered. Then she left. After a few minutes, the group started walking again, when they ran into two people.
"Oh! Sorry!" The woman cried. Then the man started looking at Allena with a bit of skepticism.
"Do you know that guy?" Caden whispered to Allena after a few seconds.
"Uh... Maybe...?" She replied. Then the man subtly tapped on the woman's shoulder and pointed at Allena.
"Alright! Why do you keep on looking at her like that?!" Kyle snapped.
"Do I even know you?" Allena asked.
"Is your name Allena by any chance?" The man asked her.
"Yeah." She replied nervously.
"Well... This maybe hard to believe but... We're your parents." The woman answered.
"WHAT?!" Kyle yelled. "If you are her parents, don't even THINK of going near her!" Kyle barked.
"Excuse me? Who do you think that you are?" The man asked.
"For your information, I'm her older brother!" Kyle snapped.
"Well we are her parents. And we miss you so much sweetie! We are so sorry for any misunderstanding that may have occurred. Come give me a hug!" The woman exclaimed in a sickeningly fake voice.
"Um.." Allena said nervously unsure of what to do or say. The woman began to step closer to Allena as if to give her a 'hug', but Kyle stepped in front of her.
"Don't... Touch... Her." Kyle said. The woman stepped closer.
"I SAID DONT TOUCH HER! What do you not understand people?" Kyle said angrily.
"As we where saying, we want you to come with us. We have a nice little group just up the street and we would just love for you to come back. We can forget about any little thing that happened before ok? " The man said.
"Um.. I'm really sorry but no.. I, I just don't know.." Allena said.
"Oh.." The man said disapprovingly.
"See? This is why we gave you up in the first place! You do nothing but cry and whine! 'Don't scare me!' Or 'Don't do that!'. That's all you ever did! We were so nice to you and what do we get in return.. This? This mess up of a child.. " The woman sneered.
"You didn't just say that.. You didn't.." Kyle said like a ticking time bomb.
"Sorry hon, you might need to get your ears checked because, yes, we did." The man laughed.
"You little..." Kyle said before running for Allena's parents.
"Kyle, don't!" Allena yelled, but Kyle didn't hear her.
Meanwhile, Fawn was entering the animal shelter, un-aware of what she was about to see.
"Hi there!" Someone from the front desk said.
"Oh.. Hi." Fawn said shyly. Fawn looked around for a bit and realized how poorly treated all these animals looked. Some of them didn't have any access to food or water and some were lying in there own excrement. It was a horrible site. The place was downright filthy. Fawn looked around and realized that near the end of the where the kennels where, on of the cages had a red sticker on it.
"Excuse me.. If you don't mind me asking, what is that red sticker for?" Fawn asked the person at the desk.
"They mean that the animals are to be euthanized in about an hour." The woman stated flatly. She really didn't seem to care.
"Oh.." Fawn said sadly. She proceeded to walk towards the kennel that had the sticker on it. Inside was a beautiful dark black Great Dane. He was a male and was taller than Scarlett. As soon as Fawn walked up to the cage, he came straight to her. He licked her hands and seemed to like her a lot.
"Poor boy.." Fawn sighed.
"Excuse me, are the kennels with the red stickers adoptable?" Fawn asked.
"No. In fact the man that 'ends' them is here right now, getting set up." The woman stated. It was all Fawn could do not to smack that lady right in the face.
"I will help you." Fawn thought.
"I will get you out of here." She whispered. Fawn then unlocked the latch at the cage and took the dog out.
"What are you doing?" The lady yelled.
"None of your business." Fawn replied.
"Actually it is. I own this place. That dog is to be euthanized, now put it back."
"Well isn't that a shame." Fawn said before running out of the store with the dog right behind her.
"Get back here! That dog is property of the shelter! That is stealing!!!!" The woman screeched. When Fawn was far enough away from the woman, she sat down.
"I wasn't going to leave you." Fawn said as she hugged the dog. "I wasn't."
"Wow you are a big dog aren't you? What should your name be?" Fawn said to the dog.
The dog barked.
"Do you like the name.. Fang?" Fawn asked. The dog did nothing.
"How about.. Bear?" She asked again. This time the dog barked.
"Bear it is then. Just wait till the group sees you!" Fawn exclaimed as her and the dog headed back to the group. But when she got there, she saw Tyler and Caden trying to hold Kyle back from Allena's parents.
"What the..." She said quietly as she walked up to Nani.
"What's going on?" Fawn asked her quietly.
But before Nani could reply, Allena's mom saw Fawn and the dog.
"What the heck is that?" She asked.
"It's a DOG. DUH." Tyler replied sarcastically.
"It's hideous!" She cried.
"Oh! So now you've resorted to torturing dogs! You two are ridiculous!" Kyle said still really mad.
"And it's not hideous! He's mine now." Fawn stated.
"Who the heck are you two anyway?" She asked.
"My... Parents." Allena said quietly looking at the ground.
"Sadly." Her dad muttered.
"THAT DOES IT!! I could kill both of you right now!" Kyle yelled furiously, still trying to get Tyler and Caden to let go of him.
"What...?" Fawn asked confusedly.
"What the heck is wrong with you two?" Nani asked.
"Yeah! Allena did nothing to you!" Caden added.
"Guys what going on?" Fawn asked really nervously. No one answered.
"Let me go!" Kyle yelled.
"No!" Caden and Tyler yelled struggling to keep Kyle away.
"G-Guys?" Fawn asked.
"Basically we made a very kind offer to have dear Allena in our group, then she rudely turned us down. We try so hard to be nice to her, but, 'oh no!" Allenas mother snapped.
"Then you brought in that.. That beast, and-" Allena's father started.
"HE ISN'T A BEAST! He's a dog. A nice dog at that. Wanna see?" Fawn asked.
"You wouldn't." Allena's mother said nervously.
"Oh you know I would.." Fawn muttered before yelling:
"GO GIVE THEM KISSES BEAR!" And the dog ran after Allena's parents. Fawn let him run until they weren't seen and then called Bear back.
"Wait.. He's yours?" Kyle asked confusedly.
"Yes. He was about to be euthanized at this horrible shelter that I found. I couldn't bear to leave him, so I took him." Fawn explained.
"You stole him?" Kyle asked.
"Maybe..."
"Fawn!!!" Kyle said.
"I had no other choice ok?!" Fawn argued.
"It's ok. Just explain it when we get back, ok?" Kyle asked.
"Sure thing!" Fawn agreed. Then Kyle walked over to Allena.
"Hey... Are you alright?" He asked. Allena looked at him after a second, and she looked like she was holding back tears.
"N-no..." She said. Then she ran off.
"I'm gonna KILL THEM for this." Kyle muttered angrily.
"How could they do that to her? And how did she live with it?!" Mika asked.
"I don't know... I'm going to look for her though." Kyle replied.
"I'm coming to!" Caden exclaimed. Then Kyle shot him a look seeming like he didn't want Caden to follow him.
"I guess." Kyle said reluctantly after a moment. A few minutes later, they found Allena.
"Allena...?" Kyle asked.
"Why do they not like me?" She asked.
"Who?" Caden asked.
"Her parents you doof! Who else?" Kyle whispered sarcastically.
"Oh..." Caden whispered back.
"I don't know why they wouldn't Allena, but whatever the reason, they're probably the dumbest people out there for treating you like that. You're really nice, how couldn't they see that?" He added.
"Thanks..." Allena said.
"It seems like that's not the only reason why you're upset... What's going on?" Kyle asked.
"Well, you know how I'm one of the shyest people in the group? Although I suppose Fawn is really shy..." Allena asked.
"Yeah?" Caden replied.
"It's a cause of anxiety. Kyle would probably already know this but here goes. After a year or two of my parents telling me that I'm worthless and all that, I started to believe it. I thought that something was seriously wrong with me, and I started to get really shy at school. I only ever talked to my best friends, because I was scared that other kids would think the same thing as my parents. I don't have anxiety anymore, but I'll probably always be shy. I just got used to it I guess... Sometimes I still feel like what they said is right. Maybe I am just a mess." Allena explained.
"Oh my god." Caden said quietly.
"What?" Allena asked.
"How could you believe that? You're way better than what your parents said that you are." He cried.
"For once, he's got a point. Every time I hear something like that, I just want to shoot your parents for doing that to you. Because... Well... You're the best thing that ever happened to me. I can't imagine what I'd do without you." Kyle added.
"Thanks Kyle." Allena said smiling.
"We should get back now." Caden said. So the three of them got up and left.
