On a swing in the park, I stared up at the night sky, stars twinkling like distant lanterns. Kade was still beside me, and the only sounds were our hushed voices and the occasional rustle of leaves. The swings moved gently, in sync with our quiet conversation carried by the soft night breeze. "Hanggang anong oras 'yung pinaalam mo kay Tita Dria?" I asked while my eyes were still staring up high.
"12 AM," he answered. Siguradong papayagan naman ako ni Mama," he waggled his eyebrows.
I chuckled, rolling my eyes.
"Pa'no mo nalaman?" He laughed.
Then a minute of silence took over between us again.
The night breeze sweeps in, making me feel safe, like being tucked in under a cozy blanket. Closing my eyes, I let the sensation wash over me. The gentle sway of the swing, the distant rustle of leaves, and the symphony of crickets all contribute to a soothing symphony. It's a reminder that even in the midst of life's chaos, there are moments of pure serenity.
Tonight was so fun. I think this is the best night I ever had.
"You're a very sentimental person, aren't you, Kuya Hiro?" Nang magsalita si Kade ay idinilat ko na ang mga mata ko, only to find him standing in front of me, with his face only an inch close to mine.
"Hiccup!" I covered my mouth and embarrassedly looked at Kade. Sh-t, why did I have to hiccup right now?!
"Aray!"
"'Yang mga galawan.." hiccup "... mo!" I grimaced and tightly covered my mouth. "Don't do that again!" I gasped for air.
He pouted.
In In a blink, I found myself staring at him, his whining fading into the background as I focused on his expression. Without thinking, I reached out, my hand gently patting his head as a smile crept onto my lips. He seemed surprised by the gesture, caught off guard by my unexpected action.
"Thank you for tonight, Kade," I spoke sincerely, my voice carrying the weight of my emotions. "I truly, genuinely had a wonderful time."
His eyes softened, and he reached for my hand, guiding it from his head to his cheek, where he softly pinched it. The contrast of the cool night air against his warm skin sent a shiver through my body, a simple yet profound connection.
"Buti na lang," he sighed in relief. I basically just dragged you around. I really thought it felt exhausting for you considering you're an introvert. Thank you for telling me, Kuya Hiro."
As we shared this genuine moment, a sense of understanding seemed to envelop us, drawing us closer beneath the stars and swaying swings. The night breeze whispered its approval, weaving our connection into the very fabric of the serene night.
I shifted my gaze, my attention drawn to a particular spot that filled me with sentiment. "Naaalala mo ba no'ng sinubukan natin nina Kace magtayo ng treehouse natin?" I asked him, remniscing the old times.
