Chapter 12: That Was Easy

"Melody and I are officially a couple,"

The table was silent for a moment as soon as the words escaped Greyson's lips, like everyone was trying to soak it in. I was about to break the awkward silence when Tanner just blurted "Finally!"

My eyebrows raised in confusion. Greyson and I glanced at each other before simultaneously saying "What?"

Tanner guided his attention across the table. "Alexa, you owe me ten bucks!"

"Dammit," Alexa groaned under her breath, which caused me to giggle a little.

Greyson spoke up. "Were you guys betting on how long it took us to to get together?"

Tanner and Alexa nodded.

"I said at least two weeks from now you two would be a thing!" Alexa exclaimed, throwing her hands up slightly. Greyson and I again glanced at each other before bursting out laughing. Soon enough, everyone joined in. I think we ended up getting weird looks from the other tables, but none of us cared.

As dinner went on, more questions about Greyson and I's new relationship arose.

"How long have you guys been official?" Kendra asked.

Greyson smiled happily. "Two weeks tomorrow,"

I smiled, feeling Greyson entwine our fingers together. Everyone began to make an 'awe' sound, which made my cheeks turn red quickly.

"I WANNA COME TO YOUR GUYS' WEDDING!"

Greyson nearly did a spit take with his Diet Coke at the sentence, which made me nearly choke on my drink.

"What?" Greyson barley managed to choke out. I watched as Kendra, Scott, and Lisa chucked. Tanner reached over and started hitting Greyson on the back, like most people do when they see someone choking.

"I want to be an uncle, just not yet," Tanner joined in, which made the color in my cheeks flush red even more. My God, I was going to look like a tomato by the end of tonight. Greyson put his head in his hands, which made me giggle.

Basically, that night, lots of laughs were shared.

I rode home with the Chances. Well, Tanner, Alexa, and Greyson. Scott and Lisa rode home with Kendra in her car. It was actually Greyson's parents idea that we rode differently. And I still had no clue why, but I wasn't complaining. I rested my head on Greyson's shoulder,which made Greyson smile. He kissed the top of my head and rested his head against it.

"You two are so cute together!" Alexa squealed, which made me giggle.

Tanner chuckled from the drivers seat. "I'm happy for you guys,"

"Thanks bro," Greyson replied. I felt his hand rest over mine, which was resting on his leg. I smiled as Greyson squeezed my hand.

We all met back at the Chance's house.

"Mom!"

Lisa looked at Greyson and smiled. "Yes, sweetie?"

"Can I stay at Melody's tonight?" He asked, squeezing my hand in his again. My lips curled into a smile.

Lisa hesitated. "Eh, I don't know, now that you two are a couple and all,"

"Come on, mom." Greyson replied. "You honestly think we'd do anything?"

Kendra stepped in. "I'm going to be there, so I would know if they would even attempt to do anything,"

After Lisa heard that, she smiled again. "Then I guess it's okay,"
