Arielle slept peacefully in her bed when she suddenly heard something heavy fall. She opened her eyes wide and sat up, rubbing over her eyelids and internally groaning from the headache that was forming. she heard heavy footsteps and saw Delano come into their room, his chest was rising up and down quickly, with sweat beads on his forehead. she got out of bed and rushed over to him, putting her hand on his heart and felt his racing heartbeat.
"What happened?"
He looked down at her with fear in his eyes and wiped the sweat away from his forehead, letting out a tiny breath.
"I saw a mouse"
she quickly put a hand over her mouth to subside her laughter but failed, laughing out loud and delano rolled his eyes.
"are you serious lano?"
He gave her a death stare and cocked his head to the side.
"Arielle, it's not funny. you know I don't like rodents"
she stopped laughing and grabbed his face, looking into his eyes with sympathy and slowly rubbed his cheek with her thumb, pouting her lip at him.
"We live in New York City baby, we're bound to see mice at some point"
Which is true. They live in Brooklyn and New York is known for having rodents but Delano was from North Carolina and rarely had to deal with them down there. They were both attending the University of North Carolina when they met and arielle was studying Criminal Justice and delano was studying Nursing, people always thought it should be the other way around but something about breaking society norms was thrilling and delano hated cops so I guess a win is a win. they had to take an Anatomy class for their major so they both happened to be in the same class, a monday morning at 8am was when the two had their first conversation together.
arielle quickly fluffed out her curls and fixed her shirt, cursing at her time management because she needed to iron her outfit since she went with a pants suit for the first day but if she did, she would late for her first class of the semester and she wanted to start off the year right so she decided against it. instead, she grabbed her backpack and an apple off her counter, running out her dorm room to catch the elevator. she bit into the apple and walked off the elevator, entering the building that had her class in it and squeezed past a few students, finding her seat in the far back and plopping down on it. she finished her apple and was about to get up to throw the core out until she heard an unfamiliar voice speak up.
"Is this seat taken?"
she looked up and saw two deep brown eyes looking back at her, he had black dreads with honey blond ends, they were tied up with a half up and half down style and she could tell he just had a retwist based off how white his scalp looked. He also had various sliver necklaces and rings on, two on the left hand and 5 on the right and she caught multiple scars on his neck, she couldn't help but stare, intrigued by the possible back story of them.
"Hello?"
she suddenly snapped out of it and cleared her throat, the same two deep brown eyes looking back at her and she felt like she was in a trance from the beauty of them.
"Uh yes, yes, i'm sorry."
"No problem, all the other seats are taken and I thought I would have to stand"
"That would be embarrassing, especially for the first class of the semester"
He nodded and went into his backpack, taking out a laptop and a notebook, she did the same and played with her pen while she waited for class to begin. a couple minutes later and the professor walked in, a tall, african american man with a high top and he was wearing all yellow, way too bright for 8am.
