"I don't think that would be a good idea" I say, clearing my throat and coming to my sense, just a little bit.
"why not? clearly it bothers you if that was the first person that rolled off your tongue. so let's talk about it" he says, in a comforting tone. his eyes danced with wonder as he stared at me, intrigued to know more. so I tell him. I tell him about how me and delano met, our relationship, the good times, the bad times, the weird times and I soon realize i'm rambling and stuttering and by the end of it, I share some light hearted words about him, not wanting it to be so negative. I inhale deeply and push the air out of my body, looking down. a moment of silence goes by and it's eating me alive so I speak up.
"soooo...no response?"
he shakes his head and shrugs. "no"
I knit my eyebrows together and squint my eyes, feeling confused. "so why'd you ask if you weren't gonna say anything about it??" he looks up at me and shrugs again, completely unfazed. I scoff, leaning back in my chair, feeling embarrassed to have shared a part of my life with him and him not giving two shits about it. why should he care? it's not his job to care. I push those thoughts to the back of my mind and decide I need another drink to get out of this awkward situation. I go to stand up and I guess I moved to fast because I fall over and my body hits the fake grass on the patio. guess you don't feel that drunk until you stand up. I hear a foot steps and then feel a hand on my arm, pulling me up forcefully. I wince at the pain and snatch my arm away, looking at it.
"i'm not made of plastic you know? that hurt" I spit out, the pain starting to throb.
"you're drunk ari"
"no, i'm not. I can handle my liquor and I just fell because I...I...what was I doing again?" I mumbled, losing my train of thought. damnit.
"we're leaving, im gonna grab your stuff." he turns to walk away and I catch his arm, keeping him steady.
I pout my lips. "but i'm having fuuuuun, I don't wanna leave. they're about to start playing beer pong!" I say, pointing inside and seeing everyone set up the red cups on the table. he exhaled deeply, brushing his hair out of his face and giving me a stern look. "I don't care what you want. I said we're leaving." he snatches his arm back and goes to grab my things. I jump out the chair and start walking towards the door, slamming it on the way out. the drunkenness starts overflowing my body and tears begin to burn my eyes, threatening to spill out. I hear a door close behind me and feel someone grab my hand, walking me to a car. I get inside and look over at the drivers seat, through my blurry vision is simba, putting his seatbelt on and starting the car. I quickly wipe the tears out of my eyes and put mine on as well. he looks at me and proceeds to put the strap in front of my chest.
silence fills the car as he drives down the highway, one hand on the wheel and other resting on the center console. I look over at him, feeling bold from the liquor and ask him a question.
"why did you block me?" he chuckles lowly and puts the car in autopilot, leaning back in his seat.
"I didn't"
"my message didn't deliver"
"doesn't mean I blocked you."
I become even more confused, not knowing what to say next but another question pops up in my head straight after.
"ha, your phone was off? you have a job f-for a reason, pay your bills" I snorted , laughter replacing the deadly silence. I look up at him and he's looking down at me, his face holding no emotion.
"I pay my bills on time. my mother is the owner of the account and I give her the money every month to pay it. I would hope she would actually do the right thing this time but she failed. i'm getting my own line tomorrow"
