Chapter 3

"Search the west wing for the culprit! I'll go on my own here in the south!" Thomas ordered his comrades. Right now he was catching a culprit who attempted to assassinate the king.

"Yes, your grace!" His comrades responded as they started to go to the west wing.

Thomas Claude Callista, Age: 20, Affiliation: Commander of unit 1 of the imperial knights, Title: Duke.

He continued on his search until his horse was hit by an arrow. and he fell from his horse after the horse went wild.

He turned around quickly where the arrow was fired, he was shocked to see that the culprit had some backup. He was then pulled by someone from behind.

"Do you wish to die?!" A woman's voice asked as she tried to help Thomas up, Thomas acted quickly and stood up while the enemy was reloading their gun.

"Run!" She yelled as she dragged Thomas by the hand into a wall as the enemies fired arrows at them.

Thoma observed the woman as they ran, she had reddish pink hair and her eyes were a pretty pink color.

"Lady Lacita?" He questioned unsure, the woman reacted to the name and she turned her head around Thomas as they continued to run away.

"Yes, it is me...Duke Callista" She responded before looking back at the direction they were running to.

"What are you doing here, m'lady?" Thomas asked confused, cause why would a noble woman be out here in the side walls of the palace.

"I was gonna go home after meeting our soon-to-be queen, she was asking me for help for her wedding day...my carriage was blown up by the assassins" Veronica responded honestly, An arrow then flew across almost hitting them, they both stopped and looked back, the assassins were still after them. Another arrow was fired at them, thankfully Thomas was quick to act and pulled Veronica out of the way.

"Pardon me, m'lady" Thomas excused his behaviour now that their position is him holding Veronica close to him. Veronica pushed Thomas away from her so they can dodge another arrow that was gonna hit them. Because she pushed Thomas and she moved out of the way, the arrow missed them.

"You are forgiven" Veronica said as she dragged Thomas away as they turned to a corner as they ran full speed again.

"Are you alright, m'lady?" Thomas asked concerned since they are running at full speed and her gown is heavy and she was wearing heels.

"Worry not!" Veronica stopped and pushed Thomas into a hole in a wall.

"What are you-" Thomas asked confused as Veronica covered them with a wood piece near there.

"Shh...they'll find us" Veronica whispered as she moved closer to Thomas.

"it's my job to fight them, m'lady" Thomas responded after he removed her hands from his mouth.

"You are outnumbered" Veronica pointed out he was alone.

"Right...but if someone sees us like this people might get the wrong idea, m'lady...you'll tarnish your reputation" Thomas responded as he locked eyes with Veronica.

"I have a fiance, so I think misunderstandings are out of the book" She smiled brightly, and Thomas rolled his eyes. How can she smile in their situation, if the enemies find them they are doomed.

"Is she stupid?" He thought as he let out a sigh. suddenly they heard footsteps coming their way.

"Shh..." Veronica whispered as she placed her hand into his mouth again. He didn't complain since he also heard the footsteps and him resisting right now would give away their hiding spot.
