"You're not human."3 words. 14 characters. 16 if you count the probable space between each of the words coming out of his teacher's mouth.
As the words repeated over and over again in Bendy's head, he could even count the amount of syllables in them. 5 in total.
On their own, they all made sense.
You're; a word to describe someone else's state of being. The shortening of you are. He knew what it meant.
Not; meaning the negative of the state of being. He was not dumb. Bendy knew what it meant. He could even make an example with the word.
And finally, human; a word that describes what he is. Sure, Bendy could be described as a demon. Or a cartoon. But, in reality, one thing was undeniable; he was human.
Together, those words made no sense. Just static noise.
Of course, in the last two centuries, the definition of the word has been stretched. At first, humans had a specific look about them. They still do, but there's a lot more variety than before. That's why someone like Cementoss was still considered human.
Because what makes a human isn't their appearance, it's what's deep down. Their ability to laugh, to love, to make, and a plethora of other attributes. But, one of the biggest attributes humans had was their ability of speech.
And when Aizawa spoke those three words, it felt like Bendy had lost that ability.
He just couldn't wrap his head around it. Why? Why would he think this? The demon- no, the human who looked like a demon- couldn't even bear to look at the book shoved in his face. Whatever was written on it couldn't possibly explain the bullshit his teacher spewed.
Another proof of his humanity, his ability to swear. If he was just a little cartoon, then he wouldn't even be able to think of a swear! Sure, he couldn't say them... but that's because of his quirk! One that did not affect his thinking,... right?
Bendy finally stopped dwelling on just the phrase, something that he had surely been doing for unwieldy amounts of time. He grabbed the book with his hands- his perfectly human who are you kidding? hands- and decided to try to find what would make him think such nonsense.
Before he could even begin reading, Aizawa decided to say yet another useless, unnecessary thing, "You need to face reality. I'm not going to sugar coat it for you; you simply aren't human. You were made artificially to be the character I showed you and that character wasn't even meant to be human. No matter how you spin it, there's no way you can even pretend to be human."
Bendy ignored the comment and continued reading the pages he was shown. Every word didn't make sense. It all didn't make sense, "There's no way you can convince me I'm this thing. I look nothing like it!"
"It's what you turned into when I turned off your quirk at the USJ"
"I mean sure, I couldn't possibly know what happened during that blackout, but I surely didn't transform into this-"
"You did. There's no point in denying it, I already know."
As Bendy kept reading the two pages, he noticed a name popping up a couple times, one he recognized, "Hold on, was all this written by that guy who tried to kidnap me?!"
