Josie gazes absently at the table, her thoughts drifting as her fellow students enjoy their breakfast before departing for the holiday break. The early hour means only a handful are present, creating a subdued atmosphere.

Unconsciously, her fingers trace the pearls of the necklace Regulus had given her.

Her contemplation centers on her father's impending situation. She holds a hope that James won't divulge details about who she hangs out with.

Furthermore, the realization of being in a relationship has recently dawned upon her. The sensation feels surreal, transitioning from never considering herself appealing, let alone someone worthy of dating, to now being part of a couple.

Josie absentmindedly fiddles with her nails, her thoughts persisting. Unlike her, Regulus has experience with relationships, granting him a semblance of understanding. In contrast, she remains uncertain about her role in this newfound connection.

Perhaps her hesitation is a manifestation of her underlying commitment issues.

"Why the early arrival?" Evan's inquiry disrupts her reverie, his presence accompanied by the other boys as they settle at their table. A slight wave from Regulus draws her attention.

"Josette?" Evan's voice brings her back.

"I couldn't sleep, so I came here early," she admits truthfully, the lack of rest evident in her eyes.

To cease her nervous nail-picking, she lightly taps the table surface.

Engrossed in their own conversation, Evan and Barty exchange words, occasionally escalating into minor arguments.

Meanwhile, Josie's thoughts resume their course. The prospect of returning home and...

A tap on the table redirects her focus.

"Where were you just now?" Regulus's voice carries in a hushed tone.

She furrows her brow. "You have a certain expression when you're lost in thought," he clarifies.

Understanding dawns, prompting a faint smile. "I'm fine, just lost in thought."

His sigh conveys concern. "Have you had breakfast?"

The question momentarily flusters her. "Wh-what?"

Regulus arches an eyebrow. "Have you eaten?"

"Yes." A slight pause betrays the truth. No.

He narrows his eyes, his curiosity momentarily thwarted as Dorcas and Pandora take their seats, preventing further questioning.

Josie is acutely aware of her struggle with food. It wasn't like she was super thin or anything from not eating. If anything she found the notion that if you have an eating disorder you have to be thin quite stupid.
