"No, you have to give it back!" She attempts to retrieve the book from Evan's grasp. The library is filled with the focused ambiance of students studying for their OWL exams—well, most of them are diligently studying. Dorcas and Evan, however, seem to be more interested in having a good time.
"Give it back, Evan. I need it for note-taking!" Evan's response is a simple laugh.
"Okay, before you resort to violence, here," he concedes, handing the book back to her. She accepts it with a stern glare.
The trio of serious students—herself, Regulus, and Barty—stand out in their commitment to studying. Pandora dabbles a bit but finds more fascination in a book about Muggle pets.
Josephine sighs and returns to their chosen table. Her notebook, already open and meticulously tabbed for each subject, displays her organizational skills.
Seating herself, she offers a small smile to Regulus, who occupies the seat beside hers. Placing the recently retrieved book on the table, Josie opens it and immerses herself in its contents.
Amidst the muttering of Dorcas and Evan, she keeps a watchful eye to ensure no wild antics ensue. Pandora, seemingly lost in thought, reads about Muggle pets with a blank expression. On her other side, Barty furrows his brows over an open book.
With the library sparsely populated as dinner approaches, Josie finishes reading a sentence and then reaches for her quill, dipping it in ink to write a few sentences.
Given that it is for Divination, she reaches for blue-colored tabs. Scanning the table for them, her search is quickly rewarded by Barty, who hands her one. "Thanks," she acknowledges, placing it on her book.
Adjusting herself in the seat, she fixes her long-sleeve shirt. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting warmer.
Suddenly, shouts echo from outside the library. Positioned near the doors, her group has a clear view of James and Sirius running from Filch. She raises her eyebrows as they bolt past, but Regulus doesn't even bother to look up.
For the remainder of their study session, a silence settles in, broken only by Evan's occasional remarks.
Finally, Evan declares, "Okay, we're done studying, guys; it's dinner time." Josephine's gaze shifts to the clock on the wall, confirming that it is indeed dinner time.
However, the prospect of eating right then doesn't appeal to her. Perhaps she can use this time to resume her search for the horcrux.
They all pack up their books before departing. "I'll see you guys later; I'm really tired, so I'm gonna go to my dorm instead," she announces. All of them nod except for Regulus.
His narrowed eyes suggest he's trying to decipher why she's lying, a realization he likely already has. She offers a fake smile before turning around and leaving.
