It had gotten colder out, and Jake was stuck walking home. It wasn't too bad, despite the drizzle of rain and the darkness of night besides the light from the lampposts. He had gotten a ride to the derby before his match, considering his car was at the mechanic shop, so he was stuck carless, but he didn't mind so much.

Hailey and Zander left earlier, and so he couldn't hitch a ride from any of his friends. He knew they would've offered, but he honestly needed some fresh air. It was a thirty minute or so walk to his house, so it wasn't that big of a struggle.

His shoes stepped into shallow puddles on the sidewalk as he walked, his hair damp from the soft patter of rain around him. Cars drove by, wipers going to clear the rain. Jake came to a crosswalk and hit the button, waiting for the go ahead.

He sighed, adjusting his bag on his shoulder, cars coming to a stop next to him as the sign turned white with a walking figure. He crossed the street.

He thought about a lot, considering he didn't have his headphones to listen to music. He mainly found himself thinking about Drew, though.

He shivered as a gentle breeze blew past him, his clothing damp but not soaking wet. He didn't pay any mind to the car driving past him at first, slowing down.

He did pay mind to it, though, when the car slowed enough to match his pace, pulling closer to the sidewalk. It was an expensive one, a mustang that was a bright red. The engine revved slightly, the window rolling down.

Low and behold, there was Drew in the driver's seat, one hand on the wheel as he looked out at Jake. Jake paused, startled, and the car came to a stop. Drew shifted it to park.

"Need a ride?" Drew's voice spoke up around pattering of rain, tapping away on the hood of the car. It was starting to rain harder, his wipers were going off every couple of seconds.

Jake honestly felt as if he would wake up any second, but he just nodded. He stayed standing still for a second, hearing the click of the doors unlocking as Drew hit a switch on his door.

"You enjoying getting wet? Get in." Drew's voice had a certain tone of demanding in it, obviously impatient that Jake was just standing there. He hurried to open the sleek door and he felt slightly bad getting the expensive seat wet. He closed his door and pulled on his seatbelt.

He probably should've thought twice before getting a ride with Drew. For all he knew this guy still hated him, and it wasn't the smartest choice by Jake. But oh well, too late, here he was already sat as Drew started to pull back into the street. The car moved smoothly and was quiet, way different than what Jake was used to.

The rain started coming down faster, pattering onto the windshield, and Jake found himself grateful that he had gotten in a car before it started coming down this fast. Drew flicked up the stick behind his wheel and his wipers started moving faster.

"Where do you live?" Drew asked, eyes on the road as he came to a stop at a stoplight. The red light gleamed brightly through the cloudy, dark night, and the rain. Jake took a deep breath in, the smell of new car was a stark difference from the smell of what Jake was used to at the derbies, car exhaust and motor oil.

"By BJ's deli, downtown." He said, before fidgeting with his phone, fumbling for a second as he unlocked it. "Sorry, let me get directions-"

"No, I know where that is. Just direct me once we get close." Jake couldn't catch his eye since he pointedly looked forward at the road.

His plum hair was blowing gently with the car's air conditioner, and his black hoodie's sleeves were pushed up to his elbows. His tan skin looked smooth, and Jake could catch glimpses of his face whenever they'd drive by lampposts or illuminated signs, his brown eyes shining with a gleam whenever the light would hit them right. He looked handsome, something out of Jake's guilty late night dreams.
