After you had mournfully walked pass your car, telling your baby on four wheels that you'd for sure be back for her- and that you were sorry for abandoning her. You promised yourself to take it to be detailed to make up for it. You couldn't help but treat your belongings like they could talk, hell- considering the odd place you were in- you wouldn't have batter an eye if it did start cussing you out for leaving it on that dirt road.

But alas here you were, walking into a town that viewed you to be weirder, your hand on the dogs head as you took steady steps down the pavement and your hand played with the locket Toby handed you. You gasped as it came open, and a piece of paper became airborne. You grabbed it before it could flutter to the ground like a leaf, and you gently unfolded it. Inside, written in shaky writing was an address, and off to the side, was a small word. "Mom" you read out. You paused your walk, looking down at your canine companion. "We've got Toby's moms address Smile, I think we should pay her a visit. I think I know where we can go for directions" you explained, looking up at a gas station. Smile wagged his tail, ears perking up as you two jogged up the hill to the little gas station at the edge of town.

You reached the door, seeing the 24 hour sign blinking in and out, struggling to stay alive. You pressed the door open carefully and glanced inside, seeing a tired looking young man in his early twenties reading a heavy novel, he sipped on a coffee in his other hand as he stayed leaned against the back counter, he had a slender build, pale skin with heavy eyebags under his eyes giving Toby a run for his money. He wore a grey employee shirt, with a damaged and smudged name tag with 'Jack' written over it in messy hand writing. He also didn't bother to look up for a second when the bell rung ether, this made you lick your lips- you had to force social interaction and you weren't a particular fan of that.

"I-I uh, sorry can my dog come inside?" you asked hesitatingly, you didn't want to leave him outside in fear of attracting attention.

"as long as your name isn't Spencer Middleton you're allowed in" he replied- quick and simple, taking a sip of his coffee again as he finally shut his novel to look at you as he placed the book behind him, he limped up to the front counter, making you notice the crutches.

"and you or your dog aren't Spencer Middleton or know him- right?" he asked, eyeing you suspiciously as Smile peaked his head into the door. You blinked, and glanced down at Smile before looking into the mans green eyes, was he being serious? Dead serious by his expression.

"I- no my names Y/n and this is Smile."

To your dismay Smile.. Well, flashed the young man a smile.

And to your surprised, the man- or Jack wasn't phased at the slightest, and instead he looked back up at you as if he knew what he was dealing with. "Cute dog, you can come on in with him but if he eats anything you gotta pay for it"

You nodded slowly, letting your friend in and you watched him patter over to some dog treats, which he picked up and brought to the counter, placed it down before heading back over to you and patting at the pocket you put the wallet. Hesitantly you handed Smile the wallet, which he took gently in his human like teeth and trotted back over to the tired employee, stood up on his hind legs and placed the wallet full of cash down, before panting softly as he watched the man scan up the item, take out the exact change before handing Smile the treats and wallet back, which in return was given back to you.

"Cool trick" Jack muttered, as you both watched the dog chew the box open in the corner.

"I-I didn't teach him that" you muttered slowly, the male hummed in reply as silence fell over the store. You shifted awkwardly, before you quickly remembered your purpose.

"O-oh um, can I get some directions? I just got out these woods here and I'm trying to find these ingredients and this address, could cha help me out?" you asked carefully, showing him the list and address. He picked up the list first and glanced over it.
