The controller shook in your sweat palms as you stared at the blank tv. you were scared shitless and couldn't even bring yourself to start it. You jumped as your phone started to buzz next to you. You dropped the controller and picked up your phone slowly and with a shaking hand you declined it only for it to ring again.. And  again. No matter how many times you tried denying the call. It just kept calling back. With eyes full of tears and the hesitance of a scared rabbit you got up the courage to answer.

"H-hello?"

              "Play the game Y/n"

"I don't want to" the fear was rising up inside your chest as the mysterious voice on the other end chuckled.

"I'll play it for you then"

the fear rose up in your chest as the game turned on by it's self. "No, no, no, stop it!" you shouted as you tried to take control of the game once more but failed each time you tried. when link transformed into a zora you tried to make him take the mask off. when he began to swim to the bottom of the lake against your commands you slammed your fingers harshly against the buttons to make him swim out, and when he started drowning and dying you panicked and pulled the plug to the tv but it stayed on. Seeing the still screen made you panic more as you crawled to your coffee table and grabbed the remote and started hitting the power button over and over but the screen on the tv still stayed as a laughter erupted through out your room making you freeze up. "You shouldn't have done that" a text block said as it popped up and a loud banging came from the screen making you jump back in fear. "this isn't real" you whispered to yourself as you backed yourself into your couch and like a scene from the ring, the tv began to fuzz as a body began to escape form it. Your eyes went wide in shock and fear as you realized it was the same person from your dream as before.

"Ben?" your voice came out as a whisper as you watched the male stand up, his body wet from a mysterious water that flooded out of your tv behind him, but this time he didn't wear a grin. He didn't wear a smug look, he wore a look of annoyance and anger. You stood to try and run from him but he grabbed you and pushed you to the floor.

"All you had to do, was play this fucking game. All you had to do was set me free.  And now look. Here we are. Just me, and you. It didn't have to be like this Y/n. All you had to do was upload me to the internet, and I would've been free and out of your hair. But what did you do? You caused issues and defied what I told you to do. You're just like you cousin" he spat and you stared in shock, not only had a literal man just crawled out of your tv which is supposed to be impossible. But here he was, holding you against your hardwood floor cussing you out and ranting about how you were supposed to set him free.

"Why.."

~Ben's POV~

"why didn't you say so?" the human underneath me asked. I stared, suddenly dumbfounded at her words. "Why didn't you just tell me? Why didn't you tell Alex?! none of this would've happened if you had just said something instead of playing stupid mind games like a child. You drove him away, and now he's never going to come back because of you. I should've done what Alex said and burned you and everything else!" she was shouting by time she ended her sentence. I could see through the welling tears in her eyes just how angry she was, making me realize how sensitive she was about her cousin. Making me realize.. How close they are to each other. I grinned and she glared at me in spite and kicked me off. " You and him.. You were close, weren't you? " I asked and rolled over and looked at her. She stumbled to her feet and stood while I stayed seated on the floor.

" I bet... " I paused and chuckled. " I bet you and him used to play together as children, used to run after each other laughing and playing like children do." I paused again and stood up. "I bet you two used to stick up for each other in school, had each others backs till he left for collage. He left you behind Y/n. After all those years of swearing to be beside each other for forever he left you for himself. He was always selfish, wasn't he Y/n? He secretly never cared for you. Just himself. He-"

"Shut the fuck up!" the human suddenly screamed in my face catching me off guard. "You don't know anything about him! You're just a monster who plays games with people til they kill themselves or run away!"

Ouch. That wasn't hurtful at all. I took a step towards her and snapped my fingers. The water started dripping out of the tv again, and the sink began to run. "10 minutes to change your mind, or you're going to meet with a terrible fucking fate." I deadpanned and she realized her mistake quickly and she took off upstairs and I followed behind her slowly and uncaring. Even if she couldn't set me free, it wasn't any bother. I could move onto the next host, and the next, then the next. And then the next. I stopped at the staircase, the water was already at my ankles but I didn't care no matter how much it bothered me I could careless, how could I when I live in it?

~Y/n POV~

I ran into my room and slammed the door shut, I could hear the splashing of water and I could feel it running across the bottoms of my feet and my heart pounded harder in my chest and a calming knock came at the door. "There's no escape, Y/n. Just help me" he muttered through the door and I pressed my back tighter against the door. "Help you?? So you can do to me what you did to Alex? No. fuck no!" I screamed and felt the banging coming from the door stop. "If you say so" his voice echoed through my head and my heart dropped to my stomach and I looked down and water was filling up my room fast. It went from being at my ankles to being at my waist in what felt like seconds and I felt panic rise as I looked around for a way out as the water rose higher up. I stumbled through to the window and tried to open, break, whatever I could do. But it wouldn't budge.

The room suddenly felt colder when I whipped around and Ben was standing here as still as a statue. Just like in the game. I glared at him and he grinned. making my blood boil. Without thinking I charged at him and screamed as I grabbed him by the neck and pushed him down into the water. His grin widened as I squeezed his neck with full intention on murdering him. I didn't care for my lungs when they started screaming for air but I couldn't stop and breath, I couldn't bring myself to let him go. If I had to die, he was going with me. Or so I taught as everything began to feel dizzy, the room felt colder then it already was.

~Ben's POV~

Y/n was quickly loosing air, I couldn't help but grin as she did. It just means she fell for my game. And finally lost it. With this? I could use her, I could be free. I felt her grip loosen as she lost consciousness and started to float down but I grabbed her and removed the water and put it back into the game and then.. And then I felt awkward as I sat there with her, this human. In my arms, in the middle of a still soaking wet house. Not to mention the dead silence around us. I looked down at the human and brushed her (h/c) hair out of her face and laid her down. I pressed my ear to her chest and held my breath and listened for a heart beat.

'Thud, thud ,thud'

I heard softly and I sighed in a form of relief, not for her. But for me. The game wasn't over yet. I picked the human up, their body felt light in my arms. But I wasn't sure if that was because I could lift anything I want since I died, or if it was because she really was lighter then a feather. I wasn't sure of ether due to the fact that I've never been out of the game till now. I walked into the bathroom and began to run the hot water, filling the tub before setting her inside. She needed to warm up before hyperthermia set in, as that helped me die faster when I drowned.

I grimaced at the thought and turned the tub off before heading back into her room and picked up her phone, it was a message from her friend asking her if she's okay. I stopped and thought for a bit before answering:

"Hey, Y/n is in the shower rn. I'll let her know you messaged :)  "

She responded faster then she normally would've.

"And who is this? Do I have to call the police?"

I rolled my eyes. Paranoia isn't funny when I'm not the one causing it. "No, I'm her-" I paused and erased my message. What the hell do I say? I swallowed feeling a little nervous before typing out probably the biggest, and most disgusting lie I'll ever tell in my undead life.

"I'm her boyfriend"
