Author here, It's been a cold, dreadful year for a lot of us, so heres a break from the seriousness for a tiny big of '~f l u f f~'enjoy :)

An edit: as I was writing this my power had gone out and life got in the way, :') despite that I still wanted to post this as a small break from the main story won't hurt, and will help build the relationship better. Please enjoy! I know, it's a filler, and likely not what you had been waiting on but there's been a lot going on for me, between my chronic illness, and having so much come up. And it would be nice to squeeze in a few soft moments, not everything in life is serious, and with how fleeting it is it feels important to appreciate the small things. So I really hope I can keep all of you reading, I've been wanting to work on this for awhile now, hopefully I won't disappoint you. (Also this is still cannon to the story, just not the main story)

You woke with a start in the middle of the night, the sound of hail and snow hitting your window had stirred you out of your slumber and left you groggy and confused, you were in the dark and had no idea what was happening. Like, literally in the dark. Sometime during the night your power had gone out and had shunned you into darkness. You reached for your phone which should've been on the bed side table, but all you could feel was the cool wooden surface much to your growing despair. You shivered, wrapping the throw you fell asleep with around your shivering body. "Ben? You here?" you shouted, hoping he'd pop his head through the door way, but much to your growing despair he didn't respond. You wrapped the throw blanket you fell asleep in around you tightly, before slowly touching your toes down into your soft carpet. You moved quietly, careful about where you placed your steps in the pitch black/ "Ben?" you called out again yet there still wasn't a sound from the entity to be heard.

You grumbled to yourself as you silently stumbled your way through the ink, doing your best to avoid obstacles you could remember. Making like a clumsy newborn deer you made your way to the kitchen, and dug around in a drawer till your fingers wrap around the familiar shape that was your emergency flashlight. You sighed with relief, pointing it towards the door way and flicked it on, immediately illuminating the sudden body that stood in front blocking the beam from breaking the ink apart.

With a startled shout you instinctively swung the heavy light at the random person causing a familiar yelp to leave their mouth. "H-hey chill its me! It's just me!" he shouted, leaning out the way of your swing. "Why would you sneak up on me in the dark?! I've been trying to find you ya know!" you shouted back at him, and the ghost rolled his eyes at you, "that's why i'm standing here, I heard you calling my name" he dead paned at you, an unamused look crossed his face. "It's getting really cold for you, i'm going to help you find some candles, and we'll set them up in your room til the power comes back on, you're going to freeze to death"

The sudden seriousness in his voice left you confused, yet flattered that he expressed concern and care towards you. You couldn't help the blush that grew on your cheeks as you tried to hide it by going to the pantry for candles, despite the light you still nearly tripped over something in the darkness, only for arms to quickly wrap around you from behind. " Can you please be more aware of your surroundings?" Ben hissed, holding you tightly as you felt yourself lock up from embarrassment and shock at his sudden personality change. the typical snarky, mean, and sarcastic guy was now passive aggressively caring for you while trying to act like he didn't give a fuck.

You stared up at him, the light illuminated both your faces just soft enough to make eye contact, his dark red and black eyes sparkled like stars in the dim light. It was a long moment of comfortable silence, you hadn't of realized just how closely your faces were together til Ben pulled away "So, which shelf has the candles on them?" he asked, a hint of embarrassment in his voice. "Ah um. The second one" you mumbled. "Why are you being so nice all of a sudden? I thought you hated me"
