You tried dialing your cousin again and again, but he never picked up the phone "God dammit Alex pick up the fucking phone" You cursed and fell back onto your couch, tossing your phone down onto your coffee maker on the way down. You haven't spoken to Alex since he started freaking out and going psycho over some game and a guy named "Ben". And then after that all of a sudden he's not picking up his calls and nobodies heard from him since a month ago. You were about to give up when your phone buzzed with a text making you jump and snatch your phone up quickly, to your shock and relief, the text was from your cousin.
Alex: I can't explain to you what's going on or why. I wish I could tell you where I was but I can't. Just know that you'll forever be my favorite cousin and this has nothing to do with you. I'm battling with my own demons and I'll come back when I feel safe. But in the mean time I have everything from my dorm sent to your house. It should arrive today and I need you to get rid of all of it. Burn it, rip it up. Bust it. Do whatever. Just please get rid of it.
You jumped and sent a message back demanding answers, but after waiting seconds, and after those seconds turned into minutes you finally sighed when it dawned on you. what the fuck did he mean by he has everything from his dorm sent to you house? Before you could continue to ponder the door bell rung making you jump again. You quickly took a glance out the window on your way to the door to see a delivery truck and some men rolling boxes to your door. You felt slight anger bubble up in your chest as you stomped over to your door and swung it open, making the poor delivery boy jump back in shock. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you" you said quickly as your anger turned to light panic and he chuckled awkwardly. "It's fine, can you just sign here please? I'll have my friend here bring everything in if that's alright" he mumbled awkwardly and you stepped outside to begrudgingly fill out the paper work as his partner brought boxes upon boxes of stuff inside your house. It felt awkward standing there as boxes upon boxes were filed inside before they eventually finished and left with an awkward goodbye.

You sat in the dim lighting of your living room with a cup of tea, sipping it slowly while you flip through one of Alex's notebooks. It all read as nonsense and random stutters of what you would assume to be an insane man. But it wasn't the stutters of an insane man, but that of your cousins you grew up closely with. The last few pages said the same thing over and over:
"Y/n burn it. Burn everything" over and over it said the same thing till you got to the last page, which was ripped out. Leaving nothing behind other then the singular word that stayed behind. "Ben" you whispered quietly as you read the single word that was left behind and sighed setting the notebook down back on top the rest that all consisted of the same thing. you stared over at the last box that sat almost menacingly in the corner of the living room before sighing and tiredly making your way over to it. Everything from all the boxes consisted of just papers and notebooks and more papers and notebooks. Nothing that really seemed worthy enough to bother with the bonfire. Everything could easily be thrown to the dump and never be cared for again, and you were sure that the last box would consist of the same thing till you picked it up and realized how much heavier the box was compared to the others and you struggled to carry it over to the table. You let a breath out and sat down as you scratched the tape off and ripped the over taped package. your fingers trembled with sudden nervous feelings as you opened it up to find a.. A game system and games?
You stared curiously and reached in picking it up and chuckled lightly. "An N64, Of course he would've had an N64"you mumbled and smiled a little and set it on the table as you started to go through the games that sat in the box. Donky Kong, Super Mario 64, Yoshi story, all childhood classics from what you could see before you reached into the box and pulled out a more.. Damaged cartridge. It was obviously more damaged from the rest. the sticker was long since ripped off, the side burned and slightly melted the corner. It was obvious already that Alex tried to burn the game, but for some reason wasn't successful. You bit your lip staring at it when you flipped it over and read the crude writing on the grey cartridge. "Majoras Mask" if it wasn't for the last part in the title you wouldn't have ever been able to work out the writing. You looked between the game system, the ruined game, and the clock. It was nearing 3 am but that didn't concern you due to being used to staying up.
After a minute or so setting up and plugging your... Well, Alex's game system into the tv, you felt excitement rise in your chest as you plugged in the game and turned it on. You were shocked it worked but still happy it did. The game loaded up the way you remembered would. the mask came flying across the screen and the "press start" button appeared on the screen allowing you access to the rest of the game. For the most part, the game seemed normal. Until it started glitching and killing off your character making you eventually exit the game but before you could turn it off you paused, on the save screen, your file was removed and your name was replaced for the name in all caps "BEN" for some reason or another you felt a chill run up your spine as you quickly slammed the power button and turned It off. with a deep breath you turned the now staticy tv off. "That's enough of that for tonight." you mumbled and turned to go upstairs to your bed But unknowns to you as you descended the stairs, the tv flicked on and a soft chuckle spilled through the electronic and into your reality
