The Magic Between Them (ON HOLD)

Chapter 28

As they push us down the ramp, I can't help but feel worried that someone will see our wings. I mean, coming out of a hospital, they would probably think that we were all genetically modefied freaks. I'm surprised that no one else has found out.... Seriously - my bandage was HUGE!

"What are you thinking about, Twi?" Pinkie interrupts my thoughts, bouncing up and down as she walks.

"How great it will be to be home again." I tell her and smile. "And I'm excited to fly again too." I give my wings a little flap. I grimace, and Flit runs over.

"Oh no! Are you hurt?" Flit stares worridly at me.

"My wings are a bit sore, but that's about it." I reassure her, and she sighs in relief. Then I lean back and watch as I am 'escourted' out. I can walk, but the nurses won't allow it. At least I can have fun ditching it in a bush somewhere... As we pass the doctors and nurses, we approach an elevator. Dash looks at Peony who winks. She pressed the button, and we wait. The doors slide open, revealing Flash and Bolt. Hey waaait.... What are they doing here? Flash runs over and gives me a hug, then Bolt, when a nurse stops them.

"Remember girls - Dash and Twi cannot walk for two weeks." she sternly reminds them, and Dash and I gag at each other. Jackie turns around and sees us, and we all start snickering.

"Dash and Twi, did you hear me?" The nurse commands at us. As we are at a loss of words, we just smile and nod, and she leaves. Smiling and nodding ALWAYS works.

"Dash.... There is something you should know." I tell her, and motion her forward so I can whisper. "I didn't tell you this earlier, but I healed both your wings and mine. Your legs are fine too, but....." I sigh, preparing for the worst news. "We need to keep the wheelchairs. In case someone comes over we need to act hurt." Uuuuugghh.... No more ditching the wheelchair in a bush.... Then I look at Flash. Huh - he doesn't seem surprised to find that I have wings and magic. I raise one eyebrow at him, and he rushes to my side.

"Twi! What's wrong?!?" He asks worridly, trying to figure something out.

"No, I'm fine, but do you remember-" I start.

"What we had for lunch on Friday?" Unicity cuts in. Huh? But didn't they- Jackie gives me a small shake of her head. Her expression says 'I'll tell you later' very clearly. Meanwhile, Flash gives his answer. Wait - what?

"We didn't have school Friday," he says. But that was the day we came back and had the assembly! How can't he remember it? Jackie wheels me into the elevator, with Flit wheeling Dash right behind me. Well, Jackie. The doors close, and I get disappointed. Since the boys are here, we can't jump up and down and party like we always do. Beside me, Peony looks heartbroken. I give her a small pat on her back, and the elevator arrives on the first floor. Passing the desk, I give the girl working there a small smile and a wave, and she waves back.

"Well, it was nice of you to visit, but I guess I'll see you both tomorrow!" I tell the boys, giving them the hint to leave. They shrug, and drive off. Three..... Two..... One.... YES!!!! I throw off my jacket and shake out my wings. Next to me, Dash shoots off into the air. I squint and try to find her, and within a split second, she zooms right above me.

"Dash!" I scold, and she comes down next to me.

"Hey Twi......" Dash looks at me smugly. "Wanna test out those wings of yours?" I nod. "Then follow me." We take off, and I follow her. Dash flies over to a hotel, and lands on the roof. As soon as I touch down, I hiss in pain. It's so HOT!!!! Dash and I both leap off the roof as fast as we can, landing on someone's balcony. Curious, Dash looks through the curtains (well, not really, because they left them open) and I sneak up next to her.
