🎶 Kiss Me — Dermot Kennedy 🎶

Wedding planning kept me occupied throughout the months and in the blink of an eye, it was already mid-May, just a month before our wedding. Bobby tried to be a help, but he was mostly clueless about wedding colours, ribbons, seating charts and other details, that I mostly left him out of it as he said that he trusted me with everything.

I flew out to New York for my last dress fitting before the wedding, Carmen was also there, she was going to return the favour and be my maid of honour and also got a tailored dress, as did all the flower girls.
"Here we go. Fits like a glove, no ounce more and no ounce less on the big day please!" the seamstress chuckled.
"Mary you look so, so, beautiful!" Carmen exclaimed when I stepped out. There was also a Vogue camera crew trying to get my every angle, as their wedding magazine had gotten an exclusive for our wedding.
"You really do, darling, I can't wait to see you in a few weeks" my mum said over the iPad that Carmen was holding in her hands.
"I really can't wait to marry him" I said dreamily.
"Mary Kennedy, that name was waiting for you!" Carmen said and I saw her eyes welling up.

We then left the atelier and got a coffee before Carmen had to catch a flight back home again.
"We actually wanted to tell you together, but... we're expecting a baby in November!" Carmen said happily.
"Oh my gosh!! Are you serious?" I exclaimed and immediately hugged her.
"Yes, I'm so relieved that it will arrive towards the end of the season, so we will be able to spend some family time in the beginning." she said grinning.
"This baby will be so loved" I said and looked adoringly at her stomach.

Unfortunately, it was time for both of us to drive the airport, as I was also flying back home to Boston.
We parted ways in front of the International Departures terminal, as I had to go to the one for domestic flights.
"I'll see you in three weeks, I can't wait for you to see the Compound" I said and hugged her.
"I'm so excited. This levels up to when we were invited to Windsor when George got his MBE" she chuckled.
I waved her off and the car proceeded to my terminal.

I made it back home without complications, where Bobby was already waiting for me in our apartment. He had ordered sushi and we were now watching a political debate on some TV station.
"Sooooo, as it's not long until our wedding now, I actually have a surprise for you" he spoke up and muted the TV.
"A surprise?" I asked and looked at him.
"You and me, baby, one last getaway before married life hits us: we're going to the Monaco GP in a week!!" my fiancé said excitedly.
"What?" I exclaimed incredulously.
"Yep, with a personal invitation to sit in the Prince's box" Bobby said proudly.
"NO WAY!" I now shouted.
"Plane leaves on Wednesday evening" he said and kissed me.

We arrived in Monaco on Thursday evening by helicopter and pulled up to Hotel de Paris, where my fiancé had obviously somehow managed to get a room last minute after saying his name. It even had a view of the Casino Place.
"We could just watch it from here, you know?" I asked while standing outside.
"Mary Wright, turning down an invitation from the Prince himself?" Bobby asked, faking to be shocked.
"Never" I laughed.
"Will you show me around? Where you used to live, used to work?" he asked.
I nodded and we made our way outside after freshening up quickly.

We walked all of the distances by foot, it was a bit much in the end, but it was worth it. As usual around this time of the year, my ex-boyfriend's face was plastered all around the city.
I showed Bobby where my old flat was, where the Vaubin offices were located, and I even knew which one was now Carmen's window. In the end, we went to the hotel's restaurant for dinner and quickly fell asleep as the action was starting already tomorrow.

It was a great Friday, we had access to every corner and every place in the Paddock with our ultra super duper extra VIP passes that only the Princely family and their guests held.

monacomatin Spotted: Robert Kennedy IV and his fiancé Mary Wright out and about in the Paddock. The couple are personal guests of HSH The Prince. Wright is no stranger to these streets, she dated local hero Charles Leclerc from 2020-2022 and lived here from 2022-2024.

We explored the Ferrari garage, where we met Lando and even his teammate, Ollie Bearman. It was great to have another Brit as a driver and Bobby engaged in a long conversation with him while I was busy gossiping with Lando about his latest female conquest.
"You really should stop this bullshit and settle down!" I tried to tell him in a strict tone.
"What are you guys talking about?" Bobby said when joining our conversation.
"Nothing. What were you and my teammate discussing so intensely?" Lando asked.
"He's taking me on a hot lap tomorrow" my fiancé replied proudly.
"Hot lap? They're allowing them in Monaco now?" I asked astonished. It wasn't really the best circuit for that.
"Yeah, brand new this year. Everything for the show" Lando sighed. "I would have taken you in Silverstone, but you will be on your honeymoon then" he added and faked vomiting.
I rolled my eyes and we said goodbye eventually, as the second practice was about to start soon.

George was absolutely flying, but Lando and his teammate were right on his tail. Charles seemed to struggle with his Red Bull - he still had failed to take home a victory or at least a podium at this race and it was surely angering him more and more every year.

On Saturday, we made our way to the Paddock again and Bobby was already so ecstatic for his hot lap with Ollie between the third Free Practice and Qualifying. We tried having lunch, but he couldn't get down anything as he was too afraid that he would get it out again after just two corners in the car.

Eventually, it was time for us to make our way to the Pit Lane, where Ollie was already waiting next to a brand new, shiny red Ferrari Roma.
"You ready?" Ollie asked and greeted my fiancé.
"Ready!" he said excitedly and put on his helmet. He gave the camera man a thumbs up and a smile and leaned over to me to give me a quick kiss.
"I'll be back in the blink of an eye" he said cheerily before entering the car and closing the door.

And after a few seconds, they were off, Ollie making sure to let that Ferrari motor roar. They had been gone for almost two minutes, when there was an extremely loud, horrendous noise of a car crashing into the barriers.
