After bawling my eyes out while listening to this song, I was inspired to write this.

Anyway...

This will be a bit of a shorter one.

Finally, Thorin came back to his senses and we all charged into the battle. There are goblins, men, elves, and dwarves already fighting, many lay scattered on the ground, dead.

I run by Fili's side, the two of us cutting down any enemies that get in our path. We worked together like one person, slaughtering enemy after enemy.

"Kili! Fili! Come with me!" Thorin yelled over the din of the battle, "(Y/n), you stay here and help the others!"

Fili and Kili run off after their uncle, leaving me behind with the rest of the company. The rest of the battle flies past in a blur.

After the battle, I was walking around the battleground looking for my best friend.

"Fili! Fili, where are you?" I yelled.

After an hour of searching for the dwarf, I find him lying almost dead on Ravenhill.

"Fili! Fili, are you alright?"

"(Y/n)? What are you doing here?"

"The battles over Fili, we won," I say softly, kneeling beside him.

"R-really? Th-that's great." He replies, struggling to form the words. "(Y/n), I-I don't think I'm going to make it."

"Don't say that Fili! You will make it, we'll get you to the elves and they will fix you up. You'll be back on your feet in a few days, you'll see!" I reply, not wanting to accept the fact that he is probably right.

"No, (Y-y/n)..... I'm s-sorry."

"Fili. No, Fili, you'll be alright. Please tell me you'll be alright."

"I-I'm s-sorry, (Y-y/n)," he says, his eyes meeting mine. "(Y/n), I-I have s-somet-thing to t-tell you."

"No, Fili, you can tell me later, after you're all fixed up. Save your strength." I whisper to him, my eyes filling with tears.

"(Y/n)," he reaches his hand up and cups my cheek. "(Y/n), I-I love y-you." Before I get the chance to respond his hand falls from my face, and his head slumps to the side, his eyes staring into the void.

"No! Fili, no! Noonononono, Fili! I love you, too." I cry, resting my forehead on his chest. "Don't leave me."

A sob leaves my chest, tears streaming uncontrollably down my face. I sit back for a moment, hugging myself, before leaning back in and pressing my lips to his cold ones. It's not the fact that his lips are still warm that surprises me, it's that he kisses back. It's a weak kiss, but he kisses back nonetheless. When I pull away and look at him in surprise, I find that his eyes are once again focused on me.

"You love me too, huh?" He whispers weakly.

"Fili!" I exclaim, throwing myself down to hug him. "I thought that...I thought you... I thought you left me."

"I t-thought I did t-too, but t-then I h-heard your v-voice and kn-knew I had to t-try and s-stay for you." He tells me, still struggling to speak.

The tears start coming even harder now, but I'm smiling all the same. I rest my forehead against his. He leans up a little and pulls me in for another kiss, this one passionate but also gentle and full of love. He pulls away and looks lovingly into my eyes.

A few weeks later, Fili is healed and back on his feet.

"(Y/n) can I braid your hair?" He asks one morning, while we are sitting together on the side of the mountain in the sun.

"Sure Fili," I say, my cheeks tinting pink as I smile.

He sits beside me and runs his fingers through my hair, gently brushing out the knots. I close my eyes and enjoy the feeling of his hands in my hair, and the sun on my face.

A few minutes later, Fili finishes with my hair and wraps his arms around my waist, resting his chin on my shoulder. I turn my hand and kiss his cheek, and then I reach and grab the braid, feeling for the little bead at the end. Once I find it, I smile.

"Would you like me to braid your hair Fili?"

"I would be honoured if you would braid my hair, dear (Y/n)." He kisses my cheek and then sits up, moving his arms so that I can move around beside him.

I braid his hair, gently twisting the strands into a delicate pattern, and then tie the end and secure it with the bead. I then move around in front of him again and sit in his lap, leaning my back against his chest. Fili feels the braid, and when he finds the bead at the end, beams down and me and kisses my hair.

"I guess that means we are officially courting."

"I guess so," I respond, smiling as I turn and look back at him.

He leans in and kisses me, holding the side of my face.

"I love you, (Y/n)."

"I love you too, Fili."
