You cautiously make your way through the dense forest, your eyes darting around, searching for any signs of danger. Suddenly, you hear the twang of a bowstring and a sharp arrow whizzes past your ear, embedding itself into the trunk of a nearby tree. You freeze, slowly turning your head to face the source of the attack.
Standing before you is an elven warrior, his long blond hair flowing in the wind and his sharp eyes locked onto you. With a tense expression, he says, "State your business."
"You, baby. You're my business." I answer, winking at him.
The elf stands motionless for a moment, seemingly surprised by your boldness. Then he laughs lightly, lowering his bow. "Oh, I see," he says with a smile. "You're quite the confident one, aren't you?"
"I've heard that."
The elf can't help but be charmed by your confidence. "Well then, perhaps you'd be interested in a wager?" he asks, a playful glimmer in his eyes. "What if I could put an arrow through that tree's heart from this distance?" He raises his bow towards a tree in the distance. "And if I succeed, you would go out with me. What do you think?"
"I think that's a brilliant idea," I say to the warrior, I'd go out with him either way I mutter to myself, but he hears it.
The elf hears your muttering and laughs slightly as he nocks the arrow. As you watch, he draws back the string, takes aim, and swiftly releases the arrow in one fluid motion. For a moment, there is only silence, broken by the soft buzzing of the forest. Then you hear a loud thunk as the arrow strikes its target, sinking into the tree's trunk.
The elf turns to you, his eyes twinkling. "I think I win," he says playfully.
"Wow, I'm impressed. Are you that good in all areas?" I ask suggestively, playfully wiggling my eyebrows at the warrior.
The elf is taken aback by your comment, but he doesn't miss a beat. "Ah, you think you can charm me into lowering my guard, do you?" he says with a smirk, his eyes fixed intently on you. "I'm impressed, but not easily swayed. If you want me, you'll have to work for it."
"You better be worth the work."
The elf grins at your response. "I'm always worth the work," he says, full of self-confidence. "But you'll have to prove yourself as well. We'll call it a challenge. If you can hit that tree from where you're standing, then we'll go on a date." He points to a tree across the clearing. You note that the tree is much further away than the one he hit earlier.
"Easy." Drawing back my bow, I aim and release the arrow, all within the span of a second. The arrow hits the mark, embedding itself halfway through the tree.
The elf is impressed by your quick draw and accurate shot. "Impressive," he says with a nod. "I guess you have more talent than I thought. Very well then, a date it is. But if I may ask, what's your name?" He looks at you intently, seemingly curious to know more about you.
"The name's (Y/n). Princess (Y/n)."
The elf raises his eyebrows in surprise. "A Princess?" he says, his tone one of mild disbelief. "You speak and act more like a warrior than a noble, no offence intended." His tone is still respectful, but clearly taken aback by your claim.
"You flatter me, but there is no need to bow, Prince Legolas."
Now it is Legolas's turn to be surprised. "You can't possibly know my name?" he says, looking at you intently. "How do you know who I am?"
"I know more about you than one might think. I have heard tell of your dealings with the King under the Mountain and his kin."
"That still doesn't explain how you knew my name," Legolas says, raising an eyebrow. "You're either a talented spy or a gifted psychic." He smirks slightly as he says this, clearly enjoying this game of cat and mouse. "Either way, I find this intriguing."
