Olivia stood at the counter from inside her family's local general store. She figured it would be good to drop by and grab some things she needed to hold her over the weekend time. Her best friend, Kia Knight came to town, coming off her last recent tour around the world. She was home to visit her parentals and rather than going to an bar and running the risk of Olivia seeing Chris or Spencer, they opted for the safety of Liv's home instead. She had ransacked her kitchen earlier in the day noticing she didn't have enough junk food to satisfy her and the visitor which led her to the store, with added company of her mom, much to Olivia's chagrin.

"Little girl, you even listening to me?"

Her mother asked while her daughter tentatively watched the clock tick against the wall.

"Yes. Mrs. Hicks didn't return your call, and Mrs. James chose the worst song for church service Sunday"

"Okay you were listening to me"

She sighed to herself. She mentally made an plan in her mind upon how to get in and out this store within the next twenty minutes while listening to her mother rant about Marie cheating during an game of dominoes, though this was the weekly norm for her mom's "friend" anyway.

"Then, she had the audacity to accuse me of cheating at spades. Can you believe that mess?"

"No ma, I can't"

Olivia tries distancing herself, hurrying to get what she needs. Her mother doesn't stop there.

"I'm about ten seconds away from running down there and making her gimme my money back" She nods in agreement with herself.

"Probably not the best idea, Mom. Besides, you've been friends for hella long now, and even that miniscule level of pettiness won't do you any good. Why don't you tell me what's really got you so worked up like this?"

She pushed her back into the chair with an huff of defeat.

"Mom?" Olivia pushed.

"Your daddy is trippin and dippin!"

She stands on her feet, throwing her hands to the wind.

"I've had it up to here with that man. If I didn't care whether he lived or died, I would've thrown his ass out a long time ago Liv"

The concerned daughter slowly crossed her arms, taking the time to listen to her matriarch. Her father was always more unorthodox then expected but she's never seen her mother this upset about him before now.

"Tryna tell me that if I wanna look better then I need to stop eating sweets and such. I can not believe he said that to me. Instead of worrying about me, he should be concerned with himself. Maybe if he didn't eat everything in the house and drink like an fish, he might look the way he did when we first got married"

"Maybe he didn't mean it in the way that you took it"

"Thick as thieves, always taking daddy's side"

Her mom's eyes zeroed in on her grown child.

"And what's this I'm hearing about you and Chris? Ya'll going out now or something?"

"Kia should be arriving soon, and I should probably head back that way. We'll continue this another time" She answers her mom dismissively.

"This conversation will continue missy!"

Her mom yelled as Olivia made her way to the back of the store.

"Sure"

Olivia replied going back to her first task of putting items in the basket. She had an lot of feelings to eat her way through but while reaching the spot where her go to snack was stored, she came upon an bag of dry nuts and fruits. Grimacing while placing the healthy food back to the shelf, she turned, shouting over her shoulder like her mom would be able to hear her.
