"Like hell she is!"
Spencer screamed from the top of his lungs at his brother.
"Nigga would you chill!"
Jordan pushed against his chest as Spencer tried making his escape.
"You really need to calm it down"
"Chill?"
Spencer scoffed slapping Jordan's hand away.
"You're really telling me to chill? You had no chill when Simone came back to town. I seriously doubt you'd be saying this to me right now if she was married or dating someone else!"
It had been only an few weeks since they broke up and he was fathomed by the idea of her dating someone else so soon, let alone one of his friends. He couldn't believe the audacity of the two.
"I'm bout to knock his teeth out!"
"Spence"
Jordan trailed, his eyes dropping to the floor beneath his feet.
"You can't seriously think or expect her to wait around for you. You messed this up too many times to count. D and I tried telling you that you needed to get your head out of your own ass. She has an right to happiness, whether that's with you or not"
"You helping me or just want to piss me off even more?"
"Neither homie, I'm keeping it real by telling you the truth"
He grabbed his full shot glass, throwing back the dark liquor that was in it.
"Why don't you take that truth of yours and bounce up outta my spot"
Spencer pointed to the door in frustration.
"I'm good right where I'm at, thank you though"
Jordan leans back into his seat further, crossing his leg over his knee.
"You may not like this, but you need to hear it. You've been stringing her along since we were in high school bro" Spencer grunts, making circles around the room.
"How could she date Chris? Our friend? Both of them had to know this wasn't right"
"Hmm, good to know you actually care"
"What in the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"You know what it means man. You had your chance, you blew it. You don't get an say in who or how she moves on. If you wanted that privilege, you would've listened to her. I don't see why your surprised when you shouldn't be. You had to know this would happen"
Spencer knew his brother was right, but it didn't help him any either even if this was true. Olivia probably thinks she was just an game to him, but it wasn't, not to him. Spencer loved her the minute his lips collided with hers. Olivia saw his demons and never walked away. She wanted him to let her in on the matters of his heart. Begged him even, but he couldn't do it, still couldn't. There's something in him that won't allow himself to move forward with anything or anyone. He tried getting past it, marriage and kids even came to mind, but everytime he would get close, those thoughts would fade away as quickly as they arrived on the scene. He had talked to Dillon about this one time, and his younger brother understood it. There was an time where Dillon never saw himself settling down or getting married. He had been content with sleeping with whomever and having his freedom with no limitations. Jordan was different, he was an commitment type of man. He met Simone when they were little and knew he was going to put an ring on it. Spencer doesn't think he's loved any other woman besides her. Even when he dated Liyla. It was always Simone for him. Spencer was stuck somewhere between Dillon and Jordan's stance in relationships. He didn't want to get married, but he also didn't see himself with anyone besides Olivia.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Jordan probes.
"About an thousand different things and when I put it all together, nothing makes sense"
Jordan stands to his feet, dragging his hand down his face.
"I hate this for you bro, I really do. Despite all the layers of bs you may have, I do think you love her at the end of it all"
"I know how I feel"
"You sure bout that? Does she know how you feel?" Jordan remarks.
"Ya know what mind your bi-business, J. I wasn't sitting in your home running at the mouth when you were making dumb choices"
"If that's your way of admitting it's dumb then I applaud you"
An smug look posted to his face. Spencer palmed his face, sighing.
"Don't you have something else better to do then to be bugging me? Where's your wife at, she need to come get you" Jordan walked around, setting the alcohol down, with an smirk.
"She's home like she needs to be and I'm helping my brother out. What's more important than being there for my sibling?"
"When you start helping me, do your brother an favor and let me know"
Jordan had always been Spencer's bestfriend. Dillon was great, but never took anything seriously when they were growing up, and there was more of an age gap between them. Jordan and Spencer were alike in many ways. All of them viewed family in some of the same ways. Grace and Carter didn't love one of them more than the other. It was always equal, for the most part at least. They provided what they needed while teaching them how to work hard for everything they wanted. Spencer only wished now that he had listened sooner when Grace told him to stop letting his fears dictate his life.
"So what are you going to do?"
"What other choice do I have?"
Jordan exhaled slowly knocking his head.
"That's your problem right there Spencer. You think the world owes you something, but lemme clue you in bro, it doesn't. You want Olivia? Love her? Put your bs to the side and do what you gotta do and get her. Man the hell up. You're not the only man to lose an woman they love. You're honestly the only one left that hasn't learned this lesson, and the only dumbass standing"
"Oh and that won't make me an prick for keeping her from getting happiness, because I coulda sworn that's just what you told me minutes ago"
He threw his own words back at him. Jordan rubbed the back of his neck, leaning against the wall.
"Maybe man, I don't know. I just thought you should know, and not walk into the situation completely blindsided if you happen to see them out somewhere"
"Thank you, J"
"I gotta get back to Simone and the girls, but let me know if you want D and I to come over for dominoes and spades over the weekend"
"Will do. Appreciate that. I'll be on duty"
Spencer silently nods. Jordan's eyes furrow in speculation, before recovering quickly.
"Be careful out there and don't do anything crazy"
Spencer's lips turned into an grin.
"I have no idea what you talking about brotha"
"Of course you don't"
"Enjoy your weekend J. Give my love to Simone and the girls"
Spencer pushed his brother's back, rushing him out of the door.
"I will. See you in an few days for that fishing comp!"
"Thank you for that lovely reminder"
Spencer plasters on an fake smile, as he closes the door.
"Yet another thing I wish I couldn't remember"
He mumbled to himself making his way into his room so he could get himself ready for the task he had to complete.
