"It's only been two weeks! Seriously?"
Grace shrilled towards the doctor.
"You can't tell me were back here again?"
"Mrs. James, we talked about this being an possibility. Unfortunately because of his system weakening, the cancer has spread to other places in his body. We have no other choice, he needs another transfusion so we can get the symptoms treated as early as possible"
The three men come to their mother's aide as she lands in the chair, falling apart at the seams while fresh tears flow. Swollen red eyes peer up at her sons, with her heart breaking by the minute.
"You do everything you can for him, please, my boys and I need more time with him"
Anguish slipped through the cracks of Grace's voice.
Dr. Heninkins's throat cleared.
"See the thing is, our banks have been running lower than usual right now"
"What do we need to do?"
Dillon stepped up next to Spencer. Dr. Heninkins jots something down on the chart in his hand.
"The transfusions are probably going to be needed on an consistent basis so, we need an good match for the donation. Are all of you okay with being tested? Good matches typically come from family"
"We can"
The boys agreed simultaneously. Spencer enters the waiting room where the ladies were sitting patiently, keeping calm.
"How is he?"
Simone asked. Jordan knocked his head side to side. Simone intertwines fingers with her husband, pressing her lips to his cheek as an form of comfort and by the look on Jordan's face, she knew it was needed. After Dillon explained to the rest of them about the transfusions, they all headed back towards the lab, breaking off in different rooms for their samples to be taken. Olivia held Spencer's hand, as he tried to come to terms with what was happening, hoping and praying there would be an way to get his father out of this. Few more moments passed and the nurse dropped over to explain the process.
"Doctor told you he needs more blood right?"
"Yeah, he did"
"This is good. Family members tend to be great candidates for donating and once we have an match, we can store what we need to for him after the procedures are complete. Results will be rushed, we'll know in the next couple of hours"
"Okay, thanks for the heads up"
After vials were made, the group stayed close to wait together for the results.
"How's the little one cooking?"
Olivia spoke to Jayla, killing the silence in the room.
"It's been really good, I've been feeling so much better. Symptoms have loosened it's grip on me too" Rubbing her stomach lovingly.
"The mood swings too"
Dillon chimed in. Jayla shot daggers in his direction, shutting him up with her infamous death glare, causing everyone else to fall into an sequence of laughter. Spencer nestled Olivia into his side, kissing her forehead.
"Wanna take an walk?"
Spencer pleads with his eyes to his girlfriend, feeling like he was suffocating in that room. Olivia smiles with an nod and they head down the hallway.
