You turned, excited, thinking it was Kiyoko but frowned as Lila strides toward you. "Sorry, I think you have the wrong person." Y/n cursed herself for thinking it was Kiyoko, even though the two were completely different. (She doesn't want to admit she missed the elegant girl).
You tried to leave but realized her two friends were blocking the way.
Your eyes narrowed as Lila interlocked your arms, dragging you away from her friends. "Aw~ don't be like that. I just wanna hang out with you." She beamed as your frown deepened. I can't deal with this today, Y/n thought.
"You don't want the school finding out that you're the daughter of the Scarlet Spiders, right?" Your eyes widened ever so slightly. You slowly turned to her smiling face. "What makes you say that?"
"I've met her." She stepped away, waving her phone. "And I snagged a picture." She tossed you the device, and you caught it with one hand.
You glared at her before turning the screen. A familiar red coat caught your eye. Their back turned as they strode out of what seemed like an alley at night. You smirked as you tossed it back. "What a shame. It seems you have the wrong person. That's not my mother," you chided.
"I know that." She rolled her eyes. "Kira Shinigami, the leader of the attack force, also known as the Scarlet Reapers," Lila replied. Your eyes widened before you composed yourself. "She scouted me out, and if I pass their little test. I'll be able to join."
You quirked your head. "Let's talk, then." You walked away, Lila following behind you. You stopped behind a building making sure no one was around.
"Do your friends know about this?" She looked away with a frown. "No."
Y/n stepped closer. "Do you know what they will test you for?" You searched her face as she stayed quiet. "They will see whether you can kill." You continued. "It could be a fellow coworker accused of being a traitor. Your family or anyone you love, will be used to keep you in check." Her eyes widened, and you repressed a scoff. "And this test is to test your resolve." With each word, you came closer and closer until you were right in front of her.
"This will be your first kill," you announced in a low voice. "And I have an idea of who'll be your target." Her eyes widened, "Then tell me so that I can pass!"
For the first time since meeting Lila, you felt pity. You let down the wall that kept her away. With a little bit of digging after your first meeting with her, you found the truth behind her actions.
You had known from the start that this was what she wanted. She only approached you because she wanted to join.
You also knew of her backstory. An orphan left to fend for herself after her parents mysteriously died in a fire. Their corpses were too charred to see any of the wounds that actually killed them.
