The following morning, Harry awoke to an empty bed beside him. The sound of someone rummaging through the medicine cabinet downstairs alerted him to Draco's whereabouts. Rushing out of bed, Harry made his way to the kitchen where he found Draco attempting to retrieve boxes of paracetamol. Acting quickly, Harry pulled Draco back from the cabinet, despite their kicking and protests.
"Draco, please, you don't want to do this," Harry said calmly, attempting to restrain them. But Draco was in a state of distress and fought back, trying to wriggle out of Harry's embrace. As Draco started to collapse to the ground, Harry lowered himself down with them, holding them tightly and gently rocking them. Eventually, Draco's cries subsided and they clung onto Harry, not willing to let go until the medical professionals could take over.
It was clear that Draco needed help, and Harry was determined to be there for them every step of the way.
Harry held Draco close as they wept, his heart breaking for the pain they were experiencing. When their crying finally subsided, Harry looked deep into their eyes and asked with a gentle voice, "Is it getting bad again? The thoughts and urges?" Draco could only nod in response, feeling overwhelmed with emotions. Harry's understanding and compassion was a balm to their troubled soul, and they knew that they could trust him to help them in their time of need.
Harry promised Draco that he would do everything in his power to get them the help they needed. Even though they were now 18 and needed to go to the mental health service on their own, Harry was determined to be there for them every step of the way. He assured Draco that he would wait for them in the waiting room or in the car, whatever made them feel most comfortable.
Draco breathed a sigh of relief, feeling grateful for the support of someone who cared about them. They knew that the road ahead would not be easy, but with Harry's help, they felt more hopeful than ever before. For the first time in a long time, Draco felt like they had a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.
Concern etched across his face, Harry gently lifted Draco into his arms and carried them upstairs to their bedroom. He tenderly placed them on the bed, ensuring they were comfortable before joining them. Harry's heart ached for Draco, desperate to offer any form of solace.
Curling up together under the blankets and duvet, Harry propped himself up on one elbow, looking at Draco with worry-filled eyes. "What can I do to help?" he asked softly, hoping to ease some of their pain. But Draco merely shrugged their shoulders, burying their face in an attempt to hide. Unbeknownst to Harry, Draco was surreptitiously removing their phone case, which concealed a blade underneath.
Sensing something amiss, Harry heard shuffling noises and immediately acted. He gently peeled the duvet away from Draco, prying their phone from their hand before swiftly placing it on his bedside table, along with the phone case.
It was evident that Draco was on the brink of harming themselves, and Harry knew that he had to act swiftly and cautiously. Harry enveloped Draco in a tight embrace, holding them close to his chest. "Please, Draco," he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation. "I know you're hurting, but you don't have to face this alone. We can get through this together. Let's reach out for help, for both of us." His words were a plea for understanding and for Draco to realise that there was support available.
In that moment, Harry's love for Draco consumed him, propelling him to do whatever it took to keep them safe. He knew he couldn't do this alone, and he vowed to find the help they both needed to navigate the tumultuous challenges ahead.
As they cuddled in bed, finding solace in each other's presence, Harry noticed Draco looking at him intently. Concern mingled with curiosity, he watched as Draco slowly moved away from him, walking over to their wardrobe. With a slight hesitation, Draco opened the sliding door, searching for something hidden within.
