Eva's POV

Lauren and I were waiting at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for the flight from Ljubljana to arrive. A month after Kris' Eurovision ended he had made time in his schedule to stay in the Netherlands for a couple of days. I'm not gonna lie, the day after the Grande Finale I felt pretty damn embarrassed about the text I sent to Kris,  but now that he was almost here, I was more than happy to have sent it. For the last week, Lauren's mood has been amazing. She was skipping and bouncing all over the place, and the two of them had been texting pretty much non stop.

Then, after a stream of passengers were passing through the doors, Kris was one of the last people to walk into the arrivals hall, but he definitely was the easiest to recognise. He towered over most of the people, even with the Dutch being among the tallest people on earth, then again, he did have Dutch genes. Lauren ran up to him and embraced him in a tight hug.

"I missed you lil' cuz." I heard Lauren say

"Missed you too Muffin." Kris said in return before greeting me with a short hug as well. "Good to see you, and thank you for the invitation."

"Of course, no problem. We're happy to have you around."

"Welcome to my little palace." I grinned as I showed Kris around the home. "You can either stay in the house, you'll have your own bedroom and ensuite bathroom, or in the guesthouse, which is where artists usually stay when they're here for a writing camp or to record. Lauren figured you'd be fine in the house, but I made sure to prep them both."

"Oh, anything works, I'm not picky." Kris replied with a smile that covered his face from ear to ear. In return, Lauren hooked her arm around Kris' and tugged him along to the spare bedroom.

The next day, Kris and I found ourselves in my studio. He arrived late last night, so apart from him settling in, the three of us didn't spend much time yesterday. Lauren was away for uni, so for the majority of the day, it was just gonna be the two of us.

"How many guitars do you have in here?" Kris asked, clearly in awe as I showed him the room where I store most of my string instruments.

"Honestly? I'm not sure. It has become sort of a hobby to collect them. Acoustic, electric, vintage, new editions, every single one has its own story, its own sound. And it helps that I can actually write them off as a business expense." I joked. "I listened to the albums you guys put out, they're much better than I expected. You know, considering I'm still working on letting go of the idea that you've outgrown the high school band label" I added with a laugh.

"Why thank you." Kris replied, a big grin covering his face. "A lot has changed since we started out. It's been crazy how everything has taken off." He said before he fell silent for a moment. "I guess you can relate."

I couldn't help but laugh at Kris' next statement. It was clear he thought he was bringing up some sensitive topic. It wasn't that crazy of a thought, considering I never publicly spoken about the reasons why I quit performing, but things were different when you were just talking with friends. "I don't mind talking about my career, you know." I said, noticing the relief in Kris' face almost instantly. "I definitely do. It's like this weird rollercoaster, where everything is just moving at full speed and you're too caught up in it to realise what's going on. Then again, I was all alone on the ride, with my management and label metaphorically hitting the gas pedal non stop. You've got the band, doing things independently ...I'm not saying you can't feel overwhelmed, just that I think you've got a solid support system to make sure you guys can continue to grow without breaking down."
