Kris' POV

None of us had paid much attention to Eva heading back earlier or Bojan leaving to go after her. The rest of us just continued the party without them, with some ice-cold beers in the hot tub. We were laughing, singing, talking about whatever was on our minds.

That was the case right up until the moment we heard Eva's voice from the house, topping any sounds we were making. The five of us looked at each other in confusion, which only seemed to grow when Bojan's voice followed not long after. The two didn't exactly try to keep their volume down, almost every word they shouted on top of their lungs was clear enough for all of us to make out exactly what they were saying ...and it wasn't pretty.

None of us knew just what to expect when Bojan went up to check on Eva. Or rather, none of us cared enough in the moment to expect anything. He wanted to ditch us? Fine, let him. None of us dared to speak when the shouting continued, which was partly due to us not knowing what to say, but maybe also because we kinda didn't want to miss whatever it was the two of them were saying.

After a while the shouting stopped. Still, the five of us didn't speak. It's like we were waiting for the first person to break the silence, but no one wanted to be the person to do so.

Only when Bojan stormed passed us without saying a word, I was the first to speak up. "We should probably go check on him." I said before getting up, soon followed by the others. I threw a towel at everyone and grabbed one myself to quickly dry myself off before heading inside.

"Bojan, open the door." I said, the other three boys and Lauren crowded around me as we stood in front of a locked bedroom door. However, there was no reply.

"Bojč, just talk to us." Nace continued. "We just want to make sure you're okay. If you want to be left alone, just tell us so." But again, there was only silence on the other side of the door.

There were a few more attempts from us to talk to Bojan, but each as unsuccessful as the one before. The five of us were gathered in the living room.

"Guys, we have to do something about this." Jan said.

"What can we do? He won't talk to us..." Jure added. "It's not like we can burst the door open without breaking it down."

"What if I try to talk to him?" Lauren spoke up. "Without any of you listening in. Maybe it helps to have someone there he doesn't have to spend the next few years with on an almost day to day basis."

"I don't see the harm in trying, we've basically tried everything else." I muttered softly.

Lauren got up, resting her hand on my shoulder. "Can you go check on Eva though? I'm sure she's not doing too well either."

I wasn't quite sure how I could help Eva, or if she even wanted to see me, listen to me, or talk to me. That was the point though, it didn't matter what I thought was best, it mattered what Eva needed right now. All I could do was to try and figure out what that was.

It was only since last month that I considered Eva and I to be good friends. We've seen each other a couple of times before when I was visiting family and she was there, but last month was the first time we spent multiple days with each other, and truly connected over our joint love for music. And as much as Bojan was a close friend of mine, I wanted Eva to be okay in all this mess too.

The light of the rooftop terrace had been turned off, so I headed to Eva's bedroom instead, the light coming from underneath the door telling me that she had to be in there. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
