The chaos was real. When the people in the jail came to know that Namjoon and Jungkook were moving out, people started talking about all sorts of things. Many thought they were finally getting executed. Some said they were being transferred to Africa. Some said they were just going to the bigger prison. But no one thought that the charges were getting dropped and they were moving to a life that was altogether different.
Was it a good difference or a bad difference? They didn't know.
The walls really looked smaller to Namjoon after he had returned from the palace. The huge walls, magnificent ceiling and the whole world that Namjoon had sort of forgotten after getting arrested. The green trees and blue skies made him want to step out of the cell and just stare a little longer. As Namjoon sat beside his things, he huffed. Did he really choose the right path?
"Hyung, I am ready." Jungkook entered the cell and smiled brightly.
Yeah, it's probably for the good. Let's do this for Jungkook.
He nodded, "The chief will be here soon. We will leave with him."
Jungkook sat with Namjoon and looked at the ceiling, "This is it, huh? We are getting out of here. I had never thought that one day, I would get out here. Unless it was death."
Namjoon hummed, "Yeah. Me too."
Jungkook looked at Namjoon and with a little hesitation, he finally spoke, "Why did you accept the offer?"
Namjoon wasn't shocked by the question. He had expected it. Though Jungkook was a little late, he was waiting for it. Namjoon closed his eyes as if concentrating, "Because I think you should not suffer because of me. I made some mistakes in the past that led us here. I was stubborn, inconsiderate and selfish. I led you all in this mess and lost every member one by one. I was supposed to save them."He looked at Jungkook and ruffled his hair with a soft smile, "You were the first to join me and you stayed by my side through and through. It's my turn to give something back to you. Kim Seokjin is not all that bad. I am sure he will realise your true potential and give you a good job." Namjoon got up from the bed and started walking out of the cell.
"Hyung," Jungkook stopped him. Namjoon turned back. Jungkook smiled a little, "Don't beat yourself too much. It's not your fault. It's not like we didn't know what we were heading into. We could have backed out when you asked us to. We followed you on our own will. So stop blaming yourself. And I promise that I won't let go of this opportunity that you are giving me. I know how hard it is for you to bow in front of someone else. Thank you, hyung. For everything you did for me. I will always be grateful to you. No matter what. I will always follow you. No questions asked."
Namjoon went back into the cell and softly patted Jungkook's head, "You can ask questions. You should." He sighed happily. No matter how hard the times got, he knew he could always rely on Jungkook for support. "I'll wait outside for you." When Jungkook nodded, Namjoon left the cell.
He took a deep breath as he closed his eyes. It was going to rain. He knew. He always knew how the weather would turn out. Only if he had this confidence in his discussions, his team wouldn't have ended up dead. He looked at the guard who tried to stop him from killing Shinjoo the other day. He went to him, "Do you have a cigarette?"
The guard sighed and handed him the bud and lighter. Namjoon quickly took a long puff and sighed. He looked at the tag and smiled softly, "I'm sorry if I was too hard to handle, Youngmin-shi. And thank you for taking care of Jungkook."
Youngmin's eyes went wide. Then he remembered that Namjoon was leaving the jail that day. He chuckled, "We should be thankful to you. You have kept most of them in line so far."
