Fintan's POV
It was cold in that prison, colder than exile. It was even colder because I had the loss of the deal hanging over me. The Noxflares would be ashamed. How could I have been so unprepared? And Gethen didn't help one bit. Mallowmelt? What are we, 50?
Suddenly, the wall next to me exploded and Gethen walked out, followed by Gisela.
Then Gisela started rattling off whatever she thought we should do.
Typical Gisela.
She always thought she had a plan.
All of her other plans have failed.
I wasn't holding my breath.
"...Are we all in agreement?" Gisela finished.
"Wait, what am I agreeing to?" I asked.
Gisela's POV
Typical Fintan. I can't wait to see how his idea of a plan fails, just like they always do.
Fintan's POV "My plan is much better than yours, Fintan." Gisela glared at me.
"I agree with Gisela," Gethen said.
I scoffed. "Of course you do. Nobody ever appreciates my genius plans."
"Of course we do!" Alvar exclaimed, shooting a glare at Gethen and Gisela in turn. That didn't exactly make me feel any better. But, I didn't want to be like Trix, who always makes a big deal out of everything.
Gisela rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. You and your nobody cares about me problems. We should be focusing on getting out of this place."
"Exactly!" Umber agreed. "There are ogres out there ready to tear us to shreds if we even attempt to escape."
It went on like that for a while, but we eventually came to the conclusion that we'd wait in Dimitar's prison until he came to his senses and let us out.
Gethen's POV
It had been 3 days since we got locked in Dimitar's disgusting prison. And it had become clear that he would never let us out. Honestly, he was having a pretty big overreaction to our change of meeting location. But on the 3rd night, we heard tapping on the wall. Suddenly, there was a bang, and Cassius appeared in a cloud of dust where the prison door had been.
[A/N: Yes, we know this would never happen, but it seemed fun to write.]
I gotta say, he really had that entrance thing mastered.
Cassius stood in a power pose in front of the cell wall, and I wrinkled my nose. I still didn't get good vibes from the guy.
"I have created a plan!" Cassius announced. "Let's go! We don't have time to waste!
We walked out of the prison, past fallen ogre guards.
"Did Cassius do that?" I whispered to Gisela. Looking around at all the guards, I was starting to regret what happened in Level Seven. If he ever decided that it was time for revenge, I would be a goner.
[A/N: For context (if you haven't read our Gisela and Gethen at Foxfire fanfic, which I think is our best), here's the link: https://www.wattpad.com/1336810775-kotlc-gisela-and-gethen-at-foxfire-%2Bchapter-one%2B]
Gisela's POV
The walk past the cells felt endless. Imprisoned ogres' watched as we walked down the eerily-lit path. And it definitely didn't help that Gethen was whimpering about "epic prank wars." I didn't know what he was talking about, and I didn't ask.
We walked past more ogre guards, and my curiosity got the better of me.
"Did you do this, Cassius?" I asked.
Cassius nodded slyly.
"How?"
"You have your secrets, I have mine."
I shuddered. Gethen whimpered again. What was up with that guy?
"How are we supposed to make a deal with Dimitar after we destroyed two prison cells and escaped?" Fintan wondered.
"Would you rather rot in there for eternity?" Trix laughed. "We'll just find a way to blackmail him."
"Ooh! Ooh!" Alvar jumped up and down. "We know about Soporidine! We could threaten to tell the elves!"
"Genius!" Fintan declared. He turned to us. "Alvar is thriving under my brilliant teaching."
"Yeah, it was all you," Alvar grumbled.
"Since it was Alvar's idea, I think he should go in to tell Dimitar." Gethen told us.
"Chicken," Alvar taunted. "We'll go in as a team."
After that, Cassius left, grumbling about how we valued this deal with Dimitar over our lives.
—
We approached Dimitar at his throne. Unlike we expected, he seemed prepared to talk to us, and he definitely had a death-glare ready.
"Come to talk to me, have you?" he noted as we approached. "Very brave after breaking out of my prison."
"We have..." Fintan's voice trembled. "We have come to ask you to accept our alliance."
Dimitar grabbed the Shamkniv off the throne's armrest. "After making a fool out of me? I think not."
"Oh, but you will." Alvar chimed it. "Because if you don't agree, we will be forced to tell the Council about your soporidine."
Dimitar paled.
"How?"
Alvar smirked. "I have my sources."
"Remove them at once!" Dimitar growled.
"Not until you agree."
"Fine. Now destroy those documents!"
"Bup Bup Bup." Gethen interrupted, taking out a scroll. "Sign here."
Dimitar scrawled his name at the bottom of the page and shoved it back at Gethen, and at last, the deal was done.
