Sarah sat in the cozy living room with her mother and mischievous younger brother, Adnaan. The afternoon sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on their faces. Sarah couldn't help but feel a sense of restlessness, a longing for something more than the familiar routine of staying at home.
"Ammi," she began, her voice tinged with a hint of boredom, "don't you think it's so boring to sit at home all day? I've been thinking to do a job and Safiya is also there. Maybe I should give it a try too."
Her mother, a wise and caring woman, looked at Sarah with a mix of concern and love. "Beta," she said gently, "you spent three years in another city within Delhi. Wasn't that enough of a change? Do you really need to go to another country?"
Adnaan, always quick with a joke, couldn't resist adding his own playful comment. "Ammi, just let her go! Like this also she has to go to her in-laws!" he laughed, earning a playful glare from Sarah.
Rolling her eyes, Sarah retorted, "Oh, come on, Adnaan! Just admit that you're jealous because Ammi loves me more than she loves you! You are scared if I'll stay here then the whole attention will be mine"
Adnaan, not one to back down, made a face and replied, "Jealous? Why would I be? I don't need to fight for Ammi's love. I know deep down she loves me more than she loves you!"
Their mother, unable to contain her laughter any longer, chimed in, "Alright, enough of this banter, you two! Let's not forget that love is not a competition. I love both of you equally, in my own special way. And remember my children, once you both will get separated then you both will be the first one to miss each other."
"Adnaan, are you even listening? You're going to miss me, you know?" Sarah playfully teased her younger brother.
Adnaan, always ready with a witty comeback, smirked and replied, "Oh really? Well, you'll miss me more because you won't have the privilege of having the most handsome, cute, and..." Before he could finish his sentence, Sarah interrupted with a mischievous grin, "And the most annoying brother like you, hahaha!"
Adnaan made a face, pretending to be offended, and retorted, "And I won't have to deal with a witch like you!" With that, he darted away, knowing Sarah would chase after him.
"Hawww! Is that how you speak to your elder sister?" Sarah exclaimed, pretending to be shocked. "Wait, let me show everyone what you just said!" And off she went, running after Adnaan.
Their mother watched the playful chase, her heart filled with love and adoration for her children. She couldn't help but wonder what the future held, especially when the day would come when Sarah would get married. Thoughts of how their bond might change, yet remain strong, filled her mind.
As the two siblings playfully ran through the house, laughter echoing through the rooms, their mother couldn't help but smile. She knew that no matter what the future held, their love for each other would always be a guiding light, bringing them back together no matter the distance or circumstances.
