"Rehan, how much longer will you take to get ready? We are already late," Rehan's mother said, her voice tinged with irritation.
"Coming, Ammi!" Rehan responded, rushing out of his room. He stood before his mother, dressed in a new t-shirt, jeans, and a watch. His mother looked at him in surprise and asked, "We are just going to meet your khala, Rehan, not to a party."
"Oh, my dear Ammi Jaan, let's go! I'm not wearing anything new," Rehan replied mischievously, a playful smile on his face. "And yes, let's hurry, we are getting late!"
With that, Rehan took his mother's hand and gently pulled her towards the door. Both of them were filled with excitement and anticipation as they made their way to meet Sarah. It had been months since they last saw her, and the thought of reuniting with her brought immense joy to Rehan's heart.
As they walked, Rehan couldn't contain his excitement and thought,"I just can't wait to meet Sarah. It's been months since I last saw her," He smiled whispered to himself, "I miss her so much. Now I don't want to waste anymore time."

Safiya's voice was filled with regret as she spoke to Sarah on the call. "I am really sorry, Sarah. I couldn't get time to meet you when you came to the USA." She sighed, feeling a pang of guilt for missing out on the opportunity to see her dear friend.
Sarah's voice was understanding and comforting as she replied, "It's okay, Safiya. I know you were quite busy with work, and even I couldn't find time during the wedding ceremony." Sarah reassured Safiya that she understood the demands of their busy lives and that their friendship remained strong despite the missed chance to meet.
Safiya's heart skipped a beat as Sarah revealed the astonishing news. "No way! You're engaged?!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with disbelief. "To your cousin's best friend? I can't even wrap my head around it!"
Sarah's laughter echoed through the phone, brimming with excitement. "I know, Safiya, it's like something out of a movie! Our families have always been close, but we never imagined this would happen. We started off as just friends, and now we're engaged!"
Safiya's mind raced, trying to comprehend the unexpected twist of fate. The bond between their families ran deep, but she never anticipated that it would lead to this. "Wow, that's beyond anything we could have imagined," Safiya finally managed to say. "I'm genuinely thrilled for you, Sarah! When did all of this unfold?"
Safiya's excitement grew as she thought about Sarah's upcoming wedding. Unable to contain her curiosity, she eagerly asked, "So, when's the big day? I can't wait to celebrate with you!"
Sarah's voice was filled with anticipation as she replied, "Well, Safiya, we're thinking of getting married in the next two months."
------
Rehan and his mother arrived at Sarah's home, their hearts filled with excitement and anticipation. As they stepped inside, Rehan's eyes immediately began searching for Sarah's familiar presence. Unable to resist his curiosity any longer, he couldn't help but make a beeline towards her.
With a mix of nerves and eagerness, Rehan approached the room where Sarah was supposed to be. His heart raced as he wondered what her reaction would be. Would she be surprised? Delighted? Maybe even a little flustered?
As he neared the room, he could hear laughter and chatter coming from inside. The sound of joyous conversations only fueled his determination to find Sarah.
"I know, Safiya, it's like something out of a movie! Our families have always been close, but we never imagined this would happen. We started off as just friends, and now we're engaged!"
Rehan stood frozen, his heart pounding in his chest as the words echoed in his ears. Sarah, the woman he had loved with every fiber of his being, was engaged. It was as if the ground beneath him had crumbled, leaving him suspended in a state of disbelief.
His jaw dropped, words failing to form as he tried to process the weight of this revelation. How could this be? Had he missed his chance? The thought of losing Sarah, the thought of never being able to call her his own, was like a dagger to his heart.
A single tear escaped from the corner of Rehan's eye, tracing a path down his cheek. The pain was unbearable, consuming him from within. Sarah, the one who had captured his heart, was now promised to another. And to make matters worse, it was her cousin's best friend.
The realization hit him like a tidal wave, crashing over him with a force he couldn't resist. He had imagined a future with Sarah, a life filled with love and happiness. But now, those dreams seemed shattered, slipping through his fingers like grains of sand.
Rehan's heart sank as he stood there, unnoticed by his mother and aunt who were deeply engrossed in their conversations. He had hoped to catch a glimpse of Sarah, to see her smile and hear her voice. But fate had other plans.
Suddenly, his mother turned to him, her eyes shining with excitement. "Rehan, did you meet Sarah? She got engaged!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with joy. Rehan's heart clenched at those words, a mixture of shock and pain coursing through his veins.
Without waiting for his mother's answer, Rehan interrupted, his voice filled with urgency. "Ammi, I have something important to do. I am going." His words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken emotions. He couldn't bear to stay any longer, to face the reality of Sarah being engaged to someone else.
With a heavy heart, Rehan turned away, leaving his mother and aunt behind. The weight of his emotions threatened to overwhelm him as he walked away, his steps heavy with the weight of unspoken words and shattered dreams.
------
Sarah emerged from her room, her eyes widening in surprise as she spotted her aunt standing in the hallway. "Assalamualaikum khala," she greeted warmly, a smile lighting up her face. Her aunt's presence was unexpected, but Sarah welcomed it with open arms.
Her aunt enveloped her in a tight embrace, a twinkle of excitement in her eyes. "I am so happy for your marriage, my dear," she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine joy. Sarah's heart swelled with gratitude for her aunt's love and support.
As they stood there, basking in the warmth of their connection, her aunt couldn't contain her curiosity. "Did you meet Rehan?" she inquired, her voice brimming with anticipation. Sarah's eyes widened at the mention of Rehan's name. She hadn't expected him to come and see her.
A mixture of surprise and delight danced across Sarah's face as she responded, "No! Did he also come?" Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of Rehan making an effort to see her. The possibility of their paths crossing again ignited a flicker of hope within her.
