"You still love me, right? So why are you doing this, Sarah?" Rehan's voice trembled with emotion. "I can't bear the thought of seeing you as someone else's bride."
Sarah's heart ached as she looked into Rehan's eyes. "Rehan, enough now. It's too late. We can't be together anymore. I am getting married. Our love was in the past. Now please, leave before someone sees us."
"You know we love each other," Rehan implored, tears welling up in his eyes. "Think about Kashan, how would he feel to know that you still love me? Do you want to ruin three lives at once?"
Just as their emotions reached their peak, the door swung open with a loud thud. Their mother's and Nazia came in. Sarah's heart shattered as she saw their disapproving gazes.
"What on earth is happening here? Rehan, what are you doing in Sarah's room?" Rehan's mother demanded, her voice filled with anger.
"Ammi... actually," Rehan stammered, trying to explain himself, but before he could finish his sentence, a tight slap landed on his cheek, leaving a stinging mark.
Sarah's mother approached her, her disappointment evident. "Is it true what Rehan was saying?" she asked in a stern tone, her hand already raised, ready to deliver a sharp slap.
"Khala, it's..." Rehan's mother interjected, her glare silencing him.
Kashan's mother, Nazia, clapped sarcastically, her face twisted with scorn. "There, my son is getting ready for his bride, and here something else is cooking up. What a pleasant surprise, right?"
Watching the scene unfold, Humaira and her mother, Ayesha, stood behind them, an amused smile on their face. Though unable to say anything, they silently enjoyed the drama that was unfolding before their eyes.
------
"Ammi, what happened? Why did you suddenly call off this wedding?" Kashan asked, curious and shocked.
"Because that girl loves someone else, and I can't let my son ruin himself by marrying a girl who has someone else in her heart," Ammi replied, breaking his suspense.
Kashan already knew that Sarah was in love with Rehan, but she was still willing to marry him. She didn't love Rehan anymore, and that's why they both decided to get married.
"Ammi, Rehan was her past love, and now she doesn't love him," Kashan explained, hoping to change his mother's mind.
But his words left his mother, Nazia, shocked. "You already knew that she loved someone else?" she asked, her anger building up.
Kashan tried to convince his mother, but it seemed like his efforts were in vain. His father, standing by, felt disappointed and couldn't support him. He felt sorry for his wife.
The situation was tense, emotions were high, and the conversation between them was filled with pain and regret.
------
"I still can't believe Sarah was in love with someone else, and that too her own cousin," Areeba exclaimed, her curiosity burning.
Laiba nodded in agreement. "She should have at least told Kashan. It's so unfair to him."
Zaidan, the voice of reason, chimed in, "Come on, girls, let's stop this. What if the elders overhear us? They'll scold us."
But Haania couldn't help but voice her own curiosity. "But Zaidan, don't you think Laiba has a point? I mean, if Sarah loved Rehan, she should have at least told kashan about it. He was her fiance and a relation shouldn't start with a lie."
Zaidan sighed, realizing that only Sarah held the answers. "We can't predict anything. Only Sarah can tell us the whole story."
Humaira, always trying to add fuel to the fire, spoke up. "And I feel really bad for Mamu and Mami. They believed in her so much. She was an example of a good daughter in our family, and now look at her. She has become a playgirl. First, she broke the heart of her love and now her fiancé."
The cousins exchanged glances, knowing Humaira's tendency to stir up trouble. Laiba couldn't help but smirk. "Who are you talking to, Humaira? The walls, the sofas, or yourself? Because no one is interested in talking with you. So, you can get lost."
Humaira, fuming with anger and feeling insulted, stormed out of the room, casting a glare towards Laiba.
Areeba, ever the peacemaker, suggested, "Guys, I don't think we should discuss this further. We know Sarah well. We need to find out the actual matter."
They all nodded, realizing that finding the truth was more important than gossiping about rumors. Together, they embarked on a journey to uncover the hidden depths of Sarah's love and the events that led to this shocking revelation, all while preserving their family bonds and supporting each other along the way.
------
Kashan stared out the window, his mind consumed by thoughts of Sarah. It had been years since their planned marriage had been abruptly canceled due to their families' disagreements. In all this time, he hadn't had the chance to reconnect with her. He wondered how she was, living so close yet feeling impossibly far away.
Sarah, on the other hand, found herself trapped in the remnants of a shattered dream. Her parents had arranged her marriage to Rehan, the man she once loved. For some reason, they believed that her feelings had changed. Rehan, oblivious to the truth, was content with the arrangement, confident that once they were wed, everything would fall into place.
But Sarah was torn. She had accepted Kashan into her life, wholeheartedly embracing the role of his future wife. Unknown to her, a different kind of connection had begun to form between them. Now, with Rehan resurfacing, the past threatened to unravel the present she had built with Kashan.
Late one evening, as the moon cast a shimmering glow upon the world, Kashan found himself unable to resist any longer. He picked up his phone and dialed Sarah's number. With shaking hands, he pressed the call button, hoping against hope that she would answer.
On the other end of the line, Sarah's heart skipped a beat. Seeing Kashan's name flash on her screen sent a wave of both fear and excitement coursing through her veins. She took a deep breath and answered the call.
"Sarah," Kashan spoke softly, his voice filled with both anticipation and uncertainty. "It's been so long. I don't even know where to begin."
"Sarah" Anabia said, her voice filled with curiosity, "were you crying?"
Sarah quickly wiped away her tears and tried to hide her emotions. "No, no," she stuttered, feigning innocence. "It's just something got into my eyes."
Anabia couldn't help but laugh at her response. "Oh, come on, Anabia!" she teased. "I know you too well. These tears must be for a different reason. I'll spill the beans. It's because you're getting married to Rehan!"
Anabia also with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes said, "And ofcourse, my bestie! I've been waiting for this day, and I'm beyond thrilled for both of you. You guys are truly a match made in heaven."
