I'm about to leave, so I get in my car. My phone starts ringing it was Leah.
"Leah, you okay?" I ask, as I hear her crying. "No" I hear her say quietly "Where are you" I ask "The hospital" she replies "Which one" I ask "The one closest to your house" she replies "Im on my way" I say
She ends the call and I drive as fast as I can to the closest hospital. I get there and go to the reception desk "please have a seat I'll be with you in a second" she says to me. "My girlfriends here, Leah Williamson" I say "Oh, she's not registered into any rooms" she says "Is anyone with the last name Williamson" I ask "There's a Sam Williamson, derek Williamson, Catherine Williamson, Amanda Williamson" "It's Amanda, it's her mum. Where is she!" I ask impatiently. "Room 402. Just upstairs" she says "Thank you" I say. I run up the stairs, not even looking. I get to floor 4 and make it to Amanda's room, I see Leah sat outside on the floor. I immediately run to her, I fall to the floor beside her and look at her. She looks exhausted. "Le what's happened?" I ask "She got rushed here, I don't know why. She didn't tell me, the doctors are doing tests I'm not allowed in" she says I pull her into my side and hug her. She cries into me.
She asks me "you were meant to go out weren't you?" "Yeah, but that doesn't matter" I say "Don't you need to call anyone" she says "That can wait, the only thing that's important is you right now" I say A doctor comes out and me and Leah stand up. She wipes her tears and he says "did your mum tell you, what's happened" he asks "No, she hasn't" Leah replies "I understand it will be scary and frightening, however this is life, there's a chance she can stay alive if we do this surgery but we need your permission for this to go ahead otherwise she could die. I understand it's a scary situation and it puts you on the spot."
"What's the surgery for" Leah asks
"She's got rushed in tonight because she was in pain and suffering with this thing called a tumour" he says "Cancer?" Leah asks, timidly. "Yes, it's in her brain. It's getting to the point where it's spreading rapidly and without trying there's no way we can help other than let her go" he says "I give you permission for surgery, please try everything." Leah says "Thank you, I just need you to sign some paperwork to prove your permission and then we can get her into surgery" he says Leah follows him and I go into Amanda's room, a nurse was sat in the corner in case anything happens.
"Is she your relative" she asks me "My girlfriends mum" I say "I'm sorry, I know this will come as a shock and I'm sure your girlfriend will be devastated, but we can help her. It's a long recovery and process, but it's happened in the past" she says and stands next to me. "How long will the surgery be?" I ask "Depends, the brains a very delicate structure. Least at 4 hours" she replies and picks up a clipboard. Leah comes in and says "they're taking her there in 10 minutes" she goes by Amanda's side and holds her hand.
