chapter 25:
"no way, finn. no way. there's absolutely no way" adam argues, his tone frustrated.
"he said it's just for 2 hours" finn tries to convince him. "it's only 9, mate. go in, do the surgery, and come out at 11. your appointment is at 11, isn't it? I'll call and make it 11:30. I'll even tell rose for you" finn tries to convince his friend.
"finn, you and I know that it may take more than 2 hours, I can't risk being late" before finn can talk, adam says, "it isn't in my agenda today, I'm not ready" sighs adam, in annoyance.
"you'll get paid for it" finn tries.
"that's not what I care about. I'm not ready. ask nick to do it he mentioned that's he's fre-"
adam gets interrupted when oliver knocks at finn's door. "you can come in, sir."
they both take a seat.
oliver choosing to sit in front of them, on a single couch.
"sir, I think it's more appropriate if we ask nick to perform miley's surgery since yo" begins adam, only to get interrupted.
finn finds himself rubbing his wrist in discomfort also, when oliver removes his glasses.
"adam, you will perform miley's surgery. that's final" states oliver, sternly pausing after each word making both boys uncomfortable.
he takes his glasses from off finn's desk.
"operation starts at 10:00. be ready in 20."
"has he called?" asks eliana. rose shakes her head and walks rapidly back and forth making her friend in the room dizzy.
"I've sent 16 messages and called 5 times" sighs rose.
"ro, just sit down, already." rose doesn't listen.
eliana tugs her hand, to make her sit down near her.
"I'll call him again." rose gives him a call, it rings once, twice, three times, and she ends the call, and calls again.
"I'm calling finn" eliana says.
she puts him on speaker, "baby, we're worried about adam. is he next to you?"
rose shuffles closer to her friend. "he is but isn't."
both girls, confused.
"what do you mean? he's not in the hospital?" they hear him sigh before speaking again, "he was rushed to surgery. he's in the OR, now. won't be done until 11:30 maybe 12."
finn scratches his neck waiting for someone to speak.
"but he's okay, right?" rose utters.
"he is. he's a bit angry, but he's fine. rose, I'll call and make your appointment at 1:30, is it okay?" rose nods, having eliana answer for her.
"okay, I'll let him call rose once he's out."
adam gets out of the OR at 12:59. he throws the tissues in anger, on the floor.
"calm do-"
finn picks them up and throws them in the bin. "don't you dare tell me to calm down, finn" he sighs, in anger, before sitting on the floor, outside of the OR.
"what are you doing? get up. she's worried about you."
finn has his hand extended out for his friend.
adam has his head between his knees, "rose is going to hate me, finn" adam's voice, inaudible.
finn shakes his head, "if you don't get up right now, yes she will. get. up. adam."
