chapter 36:
"step closer to it, love. it won't bite" says adam, before taking the picture of her in times square.
"say I LOVE NEW YORK and hold the american flag" he screams at her, from behind the camera.
"shh" she shushes him. "you're embarrassing me, adam."
he giggles lowly, before she comes close to him to check the pictures, herself.
"this one's cute" she says, while resting her hand on his shoulder, slightly touching the camera-strap.
he agrees. "yeah, it's beautiful, you're all smiley in it."
adam and rose landed in new york on sunday. they went to times square first thing, due to rose's call.
"I'm in the mood for some hot-dogs" she says, locking her arm with his.
he gags. "we're not eating hotdogs, love."
"oh yeah? why not?" when he doesn't give her an answer, she asks, "when was the last time that you've eaten a hot-dog sandwich?"
he goes to answer but she keeps going on, "a real one and not the places where finn takes you?"
"can't remember really if m honest. maybe college days?" his tone, lacking sureness.
"you're kidding, baby. that is almost, what? 10 years?" he nods. "probably, yeah."
"we're trying one, then." she claps her hands, excitedly.
"I'll pass on that offer, love. thank you." he tucks both his hands inside his pockets.
10 minutes later, and adam has the hot-dog sandwich in his hands and looking at it as if it'll bite him.
"eat it love, it won't bite" she repeats his words from earlier. "it's really good, trust me."
"love, you don't get it. I hate hot-dogs" he groans and places the sandwich on the table between them.
she moves to sit next to him. "look, it's drenched in sauces. you won't even taste the meat. it's just ketchup and mustard mixed together" she tries to convince him.
"fine" he scoffs and takes a bite from it.
she watches his face switch to surprised. "what. is. that?"
"you liked it?" she squeals in thrill. "you did like it."
"not bad." he goes for the second bite but stops.
"yeah, don't look at it, love" she mumbles, jokingly.
"this is the only time where you'll finish your food before I do" he jokes.
she takes the camera from above the chair and tells adam, "hold it and say I LOVE HOT-DOGS."
she hides her grin behind the camera. "come on, it's finn's request." her words are muffled by how hard she's biting her lip to not laugh any harder.
he holds his middle-finger out before rose snaps the picture.
"look at you after saying that you'd never eat one" she speaks softly and goes to place a kiss on his jaw that is moving from his chewing.
"you're pretty good at convincing" admits adam.
rose smiles proudly and wipes the sauces from her fingers with the napkin.
"my cousin has always wanted to open a place called 'hot-dogs and lemonade' where he sells only hot-dogs and lemonade. I wonder if it worked out for him or not."
