Chapter 8: Long Distance friendship

Nika😉

Hey Nika it's me Jade. Sorry I didn't
message you  sooner. Plus you're
probably on your way to practice,  so
you probably won't message back until
later. But that's okay I am heading to
Practice also . So yeah I will talk to you
later especially now that
you have my number too.

Nika😉
Sounds good to me and I will definitely
message you when practice is over.

Omg she can definitely tell that I get really nervous when I try talking to her. She is the only person who makes me this nervous.

I don't have any problems talking to the media or to fans. It's just Nika Muhl who makes me so nervous. I don't know why.

When I showed up to practice with Maddie, Coach had me go to the team trainer to see how I am healing.

When the trainer looked at my stitches she said that it's all healing well and that I should be able to play when I get my stitches out and if I pass the concussion test. That made my day right there.

I always hated not playing. But at least it's still the off season. Even though I can't can't participate I helped my teammates in other ways. I gave them my input, encouraged them, and it made me feel good.

Practice ended two hours later. Maddie and I met up with Hana afterwards for lunch before going back to the softball house to watch High school musical. And as the movie was playing Nika messaged me back.

Nika- Hey Jade sorry I didn't respond right after practice. Paige made me go grocery shopping with her.

It's all good. I am just watching high school musical with Hana and Maddie. Your sister definitely loves these movies because she knows every song by heart.

Nika- Yeah it's definitely one of her favorites. For Halloween she even dressed up as Gabriella.

Speaking of what are you doing for Halloween? It's literally this coming weekend.

Nika- I already have my costume picked out. I usually go to the Halloween Bash the men's basketball team throws. What about you?

I don't think I am going to celebrate especially since I have to go to court the next couple of days.

Nika- oh yeah I forgot that they moved the case forward. Are you worried?

Honestly I am terrified. I know that we have a lot of witnesses and evidence against him, but he makes me feel like I am always doing something wrong, or that I'm not good enough. I literally am traumatized by him. It's going to take awhile for me to understand that he was wrong when he told me that I am trash, worthless, stupid, slut, and his favorite destined to be alone.

Nika- Jade I know that I haven't known you for very long, but I can tell you that you are truly none of those things. I see how your fans look up and support you. I can see that your family means so much to you, and I can see that you light up every room you walk into. You are strong, driven, and inspiring.

Thanks for saying that Nika it definitely makes me feel a little bit better. But honestly I believe that he's right about one thing though.

Nika- What could that jackass be right about?

I think he's right about me being destined to be alone. I have been in a couple of relationships and every single one the guy cheats on me. Sometimes with multiple women. So yeah I believe that I am cursed.

Nika- Not everyone is like that. They always say that the moment you meet the one you will know. Plus, you might be just looking in the wrong direction.

True. Well this talk definitely made me feel better, but I still don't know if I can walk into the courtroom without having a panic attack. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Nika- Just remembered that we are all standing here with you.

This means a lot to me, and it's nice to know that I have someone to lean on.

Nika- lean on me whenever you need lol.

I really like talking to you, because you make me feel safe to the point where I can be myself. But...

Nika- But what?

Your sister is giving me a death glare and threatening to take away my phone if I don't stop texting. So I guess this is the end of our conversation for now lol.

Nika- of course she is and I will definitely talk to you later.

And after reading the last message I put my phone away and focused back onto the movie.

When the credits start to roll down the screen. Both Maddie and Hana started to stare at me.

What?

Maddie- who were you texting?

Hana- let me guess was it my sister?

For a matter of fact it was your sister.

Maddie- what did you guys talk about?

Well we talked about Halloween this weekend and how I might not celebrate depending on how the court case goes.

Hana- understandable. What else did you talk about?

That was pretty much it other than her giving me a pep talk about going to court tomorrow.

Hana- Man my sister must like you because she doesn't give pep talks to just anyone.

I don't know about that, but it really did make me feel better.

Maddie- we could tell by the way you smiled. It's a smile that you get when you talk to someone you really care about.

Well I do care about her and I think she is an amazing person. Anyways do you guys want some pizza?

Hana- I see what you did there, but I will let you get away with it this time because I really do want pizza.

Great. I will order the pizzas and we can binge watch the last two high school musical movies. (That's how you get out of talking about feelings and topics you don't want to talk about yet.)
