"I have to admit I didn't expect all of this when you said you needed to talk." Kelly said as I sat across from her in her office

I adjusted my seat position more comfortably on the couch

"I know I didn't either but all this shit just happened in the past two weeks." I sighed

"Okay then what happened after you seen her at the Nas party on Saturday?"

"She told me how she felt that night I left her in college. I had hurt her."

"What happened in college?"

I shook my head as I looked past her and towards the wall with the beautiful paintings.

"Benji, let me ask you something. How deep you feel like your commitment is to her?"

"Hmm?"

She slightly chuckled "Let me rephrase that. Why do you believe she feels that way? At some point your going to have to open up about this to someone. You're walking around like everything is okay but you're hurting in the inside. For the past ten years you have been, Benji."

I cleared my throat "Um, when we were both back in college- actually I'm going to start from our prom night. After the whole Brianna situation, we didn't talk until that night. I went to her hotel room that her friends mom had got. We talked and got a little tipsy, before she asked me to be her first."

"And did you?"

"Yeah."

"Do you regret taking her virginity?"

I shook my head "No, of course not. It was actually the best night out of all of my high school years. I didn't have to carry a gun that night, I didn't have to be on the corner selling drugs, going to parties with my best friends, going home tired as hell. I got to just be myself and express my feelings to her. Tell her I love her and that I want to be with her. Angel was just that easy to talk to. She made life seem like it was going to be good."

"She wasn't too opposed to doing the long distance relationship thing. She got accepted to
UCLA and Stanford. She decided to go to Stanford though. Meanwhile, East and I went to Towson out in Maryland. After my first year I left and Dave got kicked off the basketball team, losing his scholarship."

"How come?"

"Two reason for me, what happened to Angel took a big toll on me and the people at the school and I was still trying to live the fast life after we had broke up."

I sat back and took a deep breath

"Take your time. There's no rush."

"When we were back in college- I seen her back home in Brooklyn for Christmas and New Year's. We celebrated our one year anniversary thing. That was a good vacation for me. I had gotten my grades right, my girl was doing her thing, I left my money and told my mom to find a house for her to stay in. Soon my dad moved to whatever side she had moved on. It wasn't where their living now but it was better than the hood. Life was just getting better in my eyes."
