I washed my hands before sanitizing and putting some new gloves on again along with a mask. I walked over to the table that was in the dining/serving area.
It's been a few days since Angel and I had our conversation about everything. Just like we said, we agreed to start slow on building our friendship. We texted every other day. Like we didn't text yesterday but we did today. Skipping a day was fine with me because I didn't want us to feel like we're smothering each other texting everyday all day.
But when we did text it was just a quick check in simply because of our busy schedules. She's beginning to work with Joey and Smino more and I was locked in the studio working with Metro with his album.
I think we both just understood that we weren't teenagers any more and that now being grown adults we just had to figure out better times to hang out.
Luckily tonight was that night. She asked to grab some food later on tonight which was in a few hours and also why I was trying to wrap up what I was doing.
I was currently in my old neighborhood at a kids center. It was a community center where we went as kids before turning to the streets. Every year, we come down here to give back. But since East was on daddy duties and Joey was busy I came alone out of the three of us. But I still had a few other dudes I grew up with here to help me out.
Since thanksgiving was next week, I wanted to gift some low income families some hams and turkeys and some homeless people a cooked meal. It was cold outside and not with them just dealing with that, they had this damn coronavirus going on. Shit, they could use something warm to eat and drink.
I watched as a elderly man walked to the table with a book bag on his back.
"Hey, how you doing?" I greeted him
He gave me a small smile "A little cold but I'm okay."
"That's good. What can I get for you?"
"Everything if you don't mind?"
"Nah I don't mind man."
Luckily I had just fixed a few plates of everything and had sat them to the side. I grabbed two of them before handing them both to him.
"Oh, you didn't have to-
"I know but I did. Take the plate, I'm not going to take it back."
"T-thank you so much. God bless you."
"You're welcome. Stay safe out here."
He nodded and took two sodas off of the table before walking off.
"Yo B, ya phone ringing back here!" I heard loudly coming from the back office
I took my gloves off and walked back there. It was plugged up on the charger. I took it off and seen it was Angel before answering.
"Hello?" She asked once the phone connected
I looked up seeing Jerry, one the dudes I grew up with and who cooked most of the food today nod his bead letting me know he was leaving out.
