Sabo knew he wouldn't get help from the adults in high town,so he went to the children.
He found a kid named... Helmeppo? ...he doesn't quite know yet.
He found the kid talking to himself about how he was going to move to a different island in a few days. While Helmeppo was stuck up, he didn't want everyone there to die it turns out!
He did like to scare the kids from the garbage dump that he would let his dad kill them but in the end it was all a floppy fib.
He might not be the most honest person to get help from, but to Sabo's knowledge he's the only one willing to listen so he'll have to do...
Helmeppo managed to convince his dad that if he helped the dumpster people he would get them to be under his command! and so his dad helped but he didn't ever get to command them because by the time he was finished helping, both he and Helmeppo needed to leave for shells town.
As Helmeppo's dad left for shells town Sabo secretly had been talking to Helmeppo as he had been since they'd first met. Both Sabo and Helmeppo had a sad sort of pit in their stomachs. They'd both realized rather quickly what it was.
Love. It was love. Sabo didn't know when it happened or how it happened but it has.
Hearing about Sabo's death had hurt Helmeppo's very soul. He knew he should have stayed with him. It would've been better than staying with his dad anyways. He hated his dad and he hated that his very first real friend has went on to the afterlife so soon. This wasn't supposed to happen yet! Sabo's not any older than him dammit!
Helmeppo knows about Sabo's brothers so he was just as devastated when Ace had arrived on that platform as anyone else there who had a heart.
After two years he found Sabo alive. He didn't know what to do. Should he say hi?
What if Sabo knew what he did in shells town!? What if he knew about his interactions with Luffy he was so rude him!
He couldn't live with himself if Sabo knew about that!Sabo knew but he didn't care it seemed?. It doesn't make sense, but he's not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and pass it up.
He's reunited with his first friend. He was so very happy with life at that moment it was like his heart was bursting!
He realized the feeling was the same for Sabo.
Turns out love might really conquer all inclusive of death itself! Who'd have thought.?
