To say it was a rainy day would be an understatement. There was lightning followed by thunder all throughout the state. Quite the sight and sound for the citizens of New York. Some loved it, others did not. Cue Alexander, he is under his desk a little unhappy about the weather.

Jefferson barges into Hamilton's office in his usual shimmeringly annoying manner.

"Hey, Hamildick!" Thomas starts, "Washington wants you in his offi-" he cuts himself off as he notices he doesn't see Alexander. "Huh. Hamilton? Where are you?" he questions, no response is received. He looks around Alexander's office, almost expecting Alexander to pop out at an attempt to scare him, but is left dumbfounded when Alexander isn't there.

Just then, Thomas heard noises coming from the desk. "What the shit?" he exclaims, confused. He walks over to the desk and looks under it; presumably the noise was coming from underneath. To his surprise, he is met with a sickly looking Alexander, hugging his knees and rocking back and forth with tears streaming down his face.

"Hamilton?" Thomas giggles. "What is wrong with you, ah?" he smugly asks.

"Go away." Alexander shakily mutters out.

"Woah, someone's having a bad day!" Thomas responds, trying to annoy Alexander.

The room goes quiet for a few seconds, then thunder roars loudly. Alexander yelps and covers his ears, whining. Thomas scrunches his eyebrows, now a little concerned. Thomas smacks his lips, he's going to regret asking this. "Hey. What's wrong, Hamilton? The rain scarin' ya?" he asks, softly, while getting a bit closer to the obviously terrified man.

Alexander uncovers his ears and glances up at the man before him. "When.. When I was a bit younger.. a hurricane.. it destroyed my town." Alexander mutters. He hates remembering that. He then clears his throat and shakes his head. "Fuck. It's just.." he stops before he overshares, he tends to overshare a lot.

"I see." Thomas responds, nodding.

Alexander is now making eye contact with Thomas. "I'm sorry, Jefferson, you probably think I'm such a coward now.." Alexander says, shaking his head. "Oh Hamilton," Thomas starts, "I've always thought you were a coward." Thomas says, proud of himself.

Alexander frowns at Thomas' joke, obviously not in the mood.

Thomas analyzes Alexander. He feels bad for him, I mean look at him! He's a mess.

Thomas sighs. "Look, I'm sorry for botherin' ya. Would you like me to stay here?" Thomas begins, sitting down on the floor behind the desk, facing Alexander. "Would it make ya feel any better?"

Alexander wipes his tears and nods. "Thanks." he sighs. That sigh was criminal, he was holding in his breath for a while. Alexander wraps his arms around his legs again and the only sounds in the room are the sounds of Alexander's heavy breaths and the rain.

Once again, lightning strikes are then followed by a stream of loud thunder. Alexander flinches, covers his ears, and tears up.

'Man, this guy has some SERIOUS issues with rain.' Thomas thinks, but before he can finish his thoughts, thunder rumbles and lightning bolts flash the room. Alexander's wails grow louder and he rocks back and forth while covering his ears. Thomas doesn't know what to do.

Thomas is determined to comfort Alexander though, for some odd reason. He thinks of how to comfort him.

"Alexander," Thomas starts, softly.

Alexander looks up, astonished by Thomas using his first name. He doesn't know whether to be offended or flattered. "Everything'll be fine, ya idiot. I'm here, ain't I? You're not alone. It's just a storm, it'll pass." Thomas reassures Alex.

Alexander frowns. "Okay.. I'm okay.. Thomas.. You can get back to work now." Alexander responds, wiping his tears from under his eyes. Thomas frowns as well. "You're not doin' okay. I done know it. You got tears streamin' down your face." Thomas says, worried.

Alexander takes a deep breath before lightning strikes again and thunder booms.

Alexander flinches, yelps and shakes his head as he covers his ears. Thomas acts quickly, "Alexander, are you okay?" He asks, but to no avail. He thinks fast. He's definitely going to regret asking this. "Do you need a hug?" Thomas asks, frantically.

Alexander uncovers his ears and thinks for half a second. He would've said 'Ew, no.' on a normal day, but something about Thomas felt different right now. Alexander needed the hug, anyways. Alexander nods his head and glances at Thomas, misty eyed.

Thomas immediately throws himself onto Alexander in an embrace. Their chins lay at each other's shoulders. Thomas pats Alexander's back. Thomas' hand now petting the back of Alexander's head, caressing his hair. Alexander is in awe; he feels calmer. He buries his face in Thomas' chest.

"I.. like this.." Alex mumbles out.

"Pardon?" Thomas asks, baffled. He definitely heard that.

"Sorry! Nothing! I just said.." Alexander frantically exclaims, embarrassed. "Oh, no. I heard whatcha said.." Thomas shrugs, with Alexander in his embrace. "..jus' thought I'd tell ya I also like it, Alexander." Thomas smiles, unbeknownst to Alexander, who still has his face buried into Thomas' chest. Alexander blushes to himself. "Please, my friends call me Alex." Alexander smiles. Thomas chuckles. "Alright, Alex."

Three minutes go by and they're still hugging. It's gone on for too long now. Thunder invades the quietness and is so loud it almost shakes the room.

Alex shrieks. Thomas tightens his embrace. "It's okay." Thomas whispers, while petting Alex's head and running his fingers through his long dark hair. Alex's face is buried deeper into Thomas now, he feels safe. Thomas' embrace tightens.

Alex sighs. "Thank you, Thomas. I.. I know we don't like each other a whole lot, but, you're really.. helping me right now.." Alex softly speaks into Thomas' chest, solaced. Thomas sighs, relieved that Alex is doing well. "No worries, Alex. Really. Obviously if a specimen as amazing as me is concerned for you, it must've been really bad." he chuckles, then stops abruptly. "I'm just glad you're okay." he softly tells Alexander.

Alex is beaming despite being terrified of the weather. Alex can't seem to figure out why he trusted Thomas. Perhaps a sense of desperation. Alex and Thomas are both lost in thought now. They hated each other, right? They're a little perplexed, but in this moment, just happy to have each other.
