I think this is Paris. Yes, yes this is Paris because that tall thing back there is the Eiffel Tower. I think I'm alone, I'm walking alone in the streets of Paris. This is definitely not a dream, this is a memory. Dreaming memories has changed a lot since I dreamt Idris memories. I now feel it as if I was there. I feel as if I'm living it with them. This time I was living the little Parisian streets and wondering if I was walking with Luc somewhere.
—Anne! –I feel the words coming out of my mouth as I look up and see a beautiful woman.
She turns around and her face lights up when she sees me. —¡Mon amour! –she says and walks to me, she kisses me. I'm so happy, my heart beats so fast. I don't know if I ever felt this happy.
...
He really loved someone, Anne, he really loved Anne. That didn't mean he didn't lie about everything else. But at least he didn't lie about being able to love.
The weather outside was warm and the air was clear, bright blue skies, so I decided to go to town to get some fresh brewed coffee. I hadn't driven on the left side for quite some time so my instinct was to approach the door on the right of the truck. This made me think of Ireland.
I got to town 15 minutes later and went to the small coffee shop on main street. There was quite a bit of tourism for that time of the year so I waited in line to get my latte.
—Long time not seeing you here Miss.
I knew I was going to be hearing that sentence quite often in that small town.
I went out of the coffee shop and saw a gray car was double-parked beside mine. I approached the driver's window and a man was sitting behind the wheel. I gently tapped on the window.
—Hey, sorry, could you move a bit, I need to move my car. –I said pointing at my truck.
He rolled down the window. He was a young man in his 40s. Black hair, black eyes and a deep beard. one of the tourists for sure. He was driving a BMW and nobody who lives there drives a sports car in the mountains. He stared at me for a couple of seconds. —Sure Cas, sorry.
I was confused for a while there, but then I looked at my coffee cup and saw my name written on it. I looked back at the man and smiled, showing my mug. —Good catch. Thanks for moving.
—Sure, have a good one.
—Same to you!
He rolled up the window and moved the car some meters forward so I could leave my parking space.
I drove back home through the mountains and enjoyed each second of it. Everything seemed brighter, different, my senses were wide awake and I could perceive things that I couldn't before. Even with closed windows I could hear the sound of the lake and birds and moving leaves of trees. I kept wondering what Luc had said, about me being a vampire. At that moment, while driving, my mind wondered about my real parents, my birth parents. What had happened to them, which species were they? I thought I'd figured that out in Ireland, but now I was not so sure. I wished I could talk to Idris about that.
Once home, I set my computer against the window and started looking at some empty pages which needed to be filled.
I was starting to type when I heard a car approaching in the distance. It was getting closer. I couldn't understand the distance as my senses were brand new, but it seemed as if it was coming to my house. I walked to the door and opened it and the noise became louder and now seemed to be more than one car, maybe 2 or 3. I wasn't expecting anyone and Luc said he would be back this morning, so I was pretty sure one of the cars should be his. I closed the door and sat back down to wait for him. We needed to continue our conversation.
