He had first seen her outside of a supermarket, pushing a cart towards her car. She'd  stopped and smiled at an older woman. Throwing her head back in laughter at something the older woman had said. Her smile captivated him. It was the most amazing and beautiful smile he had ever seen.

From that day on he followed her, watched her, dying to see more of that smile. Even during a job all he could think about was her.

It had been four months now and he was currently sitting outside of her house. It didn't take long for Bruce to see that that beautiful smile of hers was only partially genuine. But it was mostly forced because of the torment and fear she had at home. Bruce would watch through the kitchen window as her "husband" screamed in her face and beat her until she couldn't move. How he would rape her and she would just lay there and take it. Her eyes dead as if she had gone to another world. Her arm broken in three places because he didn't like the way dinner was made.

Finally one night he watched as she couldn't take it no more. How she grabbed the kitchen knife when he wasn't looking and screamed as she stabbed him in the back. How she panicked at the sight of what she had done.

That is when Bruce decided that he needed to bring that smile back to life. He quickly and quietly entered her house with his clean up kit. She froze when she first saw him. He touched her face softly to calm her and told her that it would be alright. That he would take care of everything. So she sat in a chair and watched him as he cleaned up any evidence of her crime. Including burning her clothes that she wore. Once he was finished he kneeled in front of her and took her hands gently into his.

"I need you to buy a plane ticket for somewhere far away in his name with his credit card. Then I want you in drive his car to a car lot far away and get what you can for it. Then your going report him missing in two days time and make sure you tell them about the problems in your marriage. How unhappy you both were. They'll run his credit cards and see that he bought a plane ticket and they'll assume he's left the state. Then after a month your going to move away. Claiming you can't deal with the history of the house. You'll move away to somewhere you've always wanted to go. Do you understand me?"

She looked at him, still in shock. "Why are you helping me?" Bruce looked at her and gave a slight smile, squeezing her hands in comfort as he said, "Because I want you to be able to smile, and be happy." "How will I contact you?" She asked.

Bruce stood and collected everything including the body of her dead husband. "You won't. Remember. Just smile."

A year later Bruce tracked her down to her parents house in Seattle. And she was smiling, happy. And that made Bruce smile.
