Charlie tightened his jacket around his body adjusting it to hide of the cold weather that blew in today. His hands stuffed in his pockets and his beanie cap on.

He was on his way to his girlfriend, Jenny's house for dinner.

Charlie and Jenny had been going out for about a month now and it was their sixth date. Normally Charlie in his older drug seeking days would have already done had sex and moved on to the next girl.

But Jenny was different. She was sweet, kind, innocent. They had met when she'd come into the diner on a cold and rainy night on her way home.

Charlie was serving her coffee and somehow they ended up laughing and talking for hours until they realized it was so late that she helped him lock up the diner and he walked her home. They exchanged numbers and he asked her out the next day.

But something was eating him up inside. The truth tearing away at him as he failed like a coward to tell Jenny about his past.

She deserved to know, to know who she was getting involved with.

He didn't want to further their relationship until she knew. He wouldn't feel right being that intimate with her until she knew she was dating an addict.

Sure he was straight now and had a great life, but he would always be an addict.

So as Charlie walked up to her small house decorated with Christmas lights and snow, he took a deep breath. Knowing that this might the last time he sees her.

He knocked on the door and within seconds she answered. God she was beautiful he thought.

"Hey baby." He greeted her in his deep gruff voice, she smiled brightly and hopped into his arms. Greeting him with a sweet kiss. "Hi handsome, come on in." She said taking his hand and leading him inside.

"I made beef stew, is that ok? I figured with the change in weather it'd be nice. Also I remembered you telling me it was your favorite as a kid." "It Sounds perfect."

She led him to the small kitchen dinette but before they could sit, Charlie stopped her. "Ugh...listen, Jenny. Can I talk to you about something before we eat?"

"You can talk me about anything Charlie. Is there something wrong?" "Well it's just that...I care about you a lot Jenny. But, there's something I need to tell you."

She looked worried but Charlie was quick to quiet her fears and cupped her cheek softly. "It's nothing bad but, I've been having urges to move our relationship to the next step..." Jenny blushed but then quickly focused back on him.

"But before we go any further in our relationship Jenny. There's a secret I've been hiding. And I'm afraid you won't want to be with me once you find out."

"Charlie I care about you too. A lot. Whatever it is, just tell me."

Charlie smiled and rubbed his scorpion tattoo on his neck.

"I'm an addict Jenny. Mind you...not anymore. But I will always be an addict. I had a really bad drug addiction. That's how I got this tattoo. I was high at a drug house one night and some dude gave it to me. Thankfully even after all the stupidity I didn't get any diseases. But...Jenny please say something. I don't want to lose you but I understand if..."

Jenny just smiled softly and took his hands into hers. "Charlie I have a confession to make. I knew already."

Charlie looked at her surprised. Tears filling his eyes with happiness. "You did?" "My father, he was an alcoholic and when he got sober I would take him to his AA meetings sometimes. I saw you coming out of the church on my way to the diner one day. I just put two and two together. Charlie there's nothing to be ashamed of. Your past doesn't scare me. I love you for you."

"You love me?" Jenny freaked and stood. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It's just that..." Charlie stood and pulled her into his arms.

"Hey, I think I just might love you too. I know we've only been going out for sometime but...damn it I've never met anyone like you Jenny. You've brought me back to life."

No words were needed after that. They kissed lovingly, Charlie pulling Jenny into his lap. But soon Jenny pulled back and said, "As much as I really want to continue this. I spent all day making this stew for you and you're gonna eat it mister."

Charlie couldn't help but laugh and kissed her again. "Yes ma'am."

After dinner they spent hours on the couch slowly kissing and touching each other. But also talking and learning everything they could about one another, never wanting to stop.

Charlie put down his coffee cup on the table and happen to look at the clock. "Fuck, it's almost one in the morning. Baby I should go. I've kept you up so late."

He went to stand but Jenny grabbed his hand. "Why don't you...stay the night? It's late, besides, I don't think I'm ready for you to go yet."

Charlie looked at their hands combined and said, "Baby I might not be able to control myself holding you."

Jenny began leading him upstairs towards her bedroom and said, "Maybe I want you to let go."

Once in her bedroom the clothes slowly came off of each other and for once Charlie wasn't ashamed of his body. It's not that he was bad looking. But his scars and marks made him ashamed.

Jenny pushed him gently back onto the bed and straddled his naked body. Kissing each and every part of his body until the shame just faded away.

There was no rushing in making love. It was just simply that, making love. They took the time to explore every single aspect and detail of each other's bodies, discovering their likes and dislikes.

Charlie discovered Jenny was very ticklish on her belly when he touched it with his calloused hands. And Jenny discovered a sweet spot just behind and down his right ear.

They finally passed out after making love for hours. Allowing sleep to overcome their bodies and cuddling in each other's arms.

It was Charlie's cell phone that awoke him from his deep slumber the next day.

"Yeah...oh hey Matt. Yeah listen I'm not gonna come in today. Oh yeah I'm good just talking a personal day is all. But holler if something comes up. Alright. Thanks man."

Charlie threw his phone down by his pants before cuddling Jenny back into his arms. She was still asleep but stirred gently in his arms.

He kissed her forehead and smiled, he was finally happy.
