Steve's POV
It was a bright, nice morning. I slowly opened my eyes and sat up, the dream washed from my mind. I looked around my small villager hut and got out of bed, I expected Herobrine's men to be patrolling the streets like in the first village we found but these guys must have a pretty sturdy defence. Or maybe Herobrine didn't find this location very important. But either way, we were heading back to the base now. I left my house and saw Alex and Ryan walking down the street towards me. I greeted them with a wave,
"Steve, we found out where we are." Said Ryan, waving back, "And marked a track back to base." Well, that was one good thing to hear, but I knew there was a piece of bad news to go with it... "But we need to cross Dragon's jungle to get there. And you cant cross it safely without using the underground city system... And they were locked up two months ago..." Ryan seemed to know something that could help us across this system, but if he did he wasn't sharing his ideas.
. . .
After leaving the village and going by foot across the hot desert we came face to face with a jungle, the densest jungle you'd ever see in a lifetime.
"Dragon's jungle." Said Veronica. After wading across the river and chopping through the leaves of the trees we entered a shady place, a bit too shady... Shady enough for a monster's liking. After squeezing through about twenty tree trunks we came to a hill with a wide opening facing us. It was a tunnel made from cobble, some of it was mossy due to how old it was but Lyra said it was the entrance to the underground cities. After descending for about half an hour we came into a ravine. We were walking across a long, rickety, wooden bridge. Ryan lit up a torch and the skeleton on a man was lying on it, dried up blood was everywhere around him and there was still skin and organs in and on him. I pushed away the urge to vomit. There was a presence here, I could hear low, whispering, cold voices echoing around the cave but it all seemed right here on this bridge. I couldn't even make out what it was saying... Some zombies stumbled onto the bridge grasping wooden swords, Ryan struck one out and Veronica took down another and took it's wooden sword. The voice wasn't just whispering, it was whispering a hundred words at once at the speed of swiftness and had a screeching noise behind it, we walked the rest of the way across the bridge, me doing it carefully. We entered a mineshaft and, staying in a group, explored. The air down here was stale and thin, I had to take deep breaths every once and a while.
"You do know where your going right?" Alex asked Ryan,
"Yeah, sure." Said Ryan but in the torchlight he didn't look perfectly sure. We navigated the maze fore a while longer before meeting a cobblestone wall.
"Here it is!" Ryan exclaimed, "The entrance to the first underground city!"
