Alex's POV
After a long race down the hall, I looked back to see the guard lying on the ground by his ill companion, unconscious. Lyra and I stopped at a nether wart farm. I panted and walked around keeping my eye out for any mobs. I thought for a moment I saw something gold but I ignored it, but Lyra didn't. She reached into the depths of the nether wart and extracted a golden blade that glowed but wasn't enchanted. How was that possible? Sure it was made from pure gold but it shouldn't be able to glow that much.
Lyra just shrugged and dropped the sword into the nether warts again, I went up the stairs to the next level and looked down the hall. There were four guards standing at the end of it, accompanied by two wither skulls and a zombie pigman.
Does than not look suspicious? I looked at Lyra and she noticed the creatures as well. She crossed her arms and shook her head.
"Herobrine really needs to grow some brains." She muttered,
"I know right." I whispered, I was beginning to think this was a trap but Lyra's words told me this was supposed to be secret. No, nobody would ever expect a guard clad hall to be hiding something. I heard footsteps above me and looked up fearfully. But there was nobody walking on the roof upside down. I sighed, gravity would pull them down either way.
We approached the guards and mobs, one of the skeletons noticed us first and advanced forwards back at our approaching footsteps. Flashing his sword around, this caught the attention of his friend and he followed it's lead. It's swords met our arrows and potions. The pigman had noticed the battle going on and came to join the wither skeletons. We weren't outnumbered... Yet, even if this was a 2V3 The guards were the normal problem. But the black-clad people didn't seem to notice as they were way too deep in conversation. But something pulled them back to reality.
"HE WILL NEVER BE GONE!" Screeched a male voice that seemed to come from above. The guards noticed we were in the vicinity before another shout by the same boy echoed into the hall. "HE ISNT PUNY LIKE US MORTALS!" I replayed the sentence in my head, it sounded nothing like Ryan's voice but all the same; it was good to know another human was somewhere about. Hopefully it wasn't an enemy because it this turned into a sound war, He would conquer.
I wondered who he was talking about. Was it Herobrine? No, it must have been Notch, the god. Maybe there was still someone on our side. Defending the world of Minecraft from the evil forces of hell! But, we'd have to look into that later, as now the guards were coming to join the fight against us. It was now a 2V5 We were barely outnumbered. I dodged the guard's swords and aimed for the mobs. The guards were to be dealt with later. After each of the three mobs died I turned on the guards, we did the same as last time. They both ended up in a bad state. Lyra and I walked over to the dead end of the hall. The door was made from soul sand. I shifted it aside with the help of Lyra. This was definitely Herobrine's 'secret' base!
TThe walls were draped with dark banners that shhowed off swords aand flames. The flloor consisted of glass wiith lavaa underneath lighting up the entrance hall. There were doors branching off in all directions. But I kind of knew the big one at the other end would lead to Herobrine. It seemed funny he sit on a throne during all the stuff going on. Not that he deserved to sit on a throne or own a castle or anything loyal at all.
We decided to find and use a map, we couldn't walk straight into Herobrine and beg him to return Steve to us after all. But which of the many surrounding rooms could hold a map? Did maps even work in the nether? I dreaded splitting up in the case that someone might die and the other couldn't get to them. I looked to Lyra, she was staring straight ahead. Like she wanted to go straight to Herobrine and maybe even fight him. I kind of picked up that they had all been hurt in a way by Herobrine. Heck, maybe that was why Ryan was half iron golem? I doubted Herobrine would turn Ryan into something stronger though. It must have been natural. I shrugged off the thought and turned to Lyra.
"You want to explore?" I asked, she nodded and we went off to the closest door in which was made from quartz and had some zombie pigman lurking. I jumped at first but I guess they didn't know we killed one of their kind. So be quiet about it.
There wasn't much in there to find, just chests with some gold and horse armour. I shook my head at Lyra, we left the room and moved to the next one and saw a person, sitting on the floor, arms wrapped around his legs rocking back and forth. If we got close he would hiss at us. It was all Herobrine's fault, he was the one to cause all of this sadness. All of this craziness. He was ruining the world of Minecraftia.
After exploring for a while we got hold of a map, well, not hold. It was more of a wall with directions. If we went to the third door on the left and mined the soul sand we would loop around into the staff room and uncover a vent from there.

Herobrine's POV
I sat on my throne, feeling uneasy. Something was corrupt. Suddenly Wi appeared,
"Hero, the two wanderers have gotten into your base!" He shouted.
"Shut up!" I screeched, that's what's wrong. I felt like something was up. Like the whole base was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen. Wi disappeared back into the soul sand apologising and I balled my fists.
Time to visit an old friend...
