Alex's POV

We left the village and into the desert, we had walked about a couple hundred blocks and it was very dark, suddenly we were ambushed by monsters, I pulled out my bow followed by Ryan and Lyra extracting their swords and Veronica doing a full air kick into a zombie's face. I was shooting all of them to the ground, I had a group of creepers after me, I did a high and long jump directly over their heads. I shot one from above and landed perfectly on my feet behind their backs. They turned but I was far too quick for them, I had each of them down and dead before a single hiss could escape their lips. Ryan decapitated a skeleton, Lyra slashed a spider in two while it was in mid air. Veronica was leaving each monster on the floor bleeding and cracked. Steve was- oh yeah, he's not here. The thought of that sent anger through me and I became somehow more skilled in the time, I was shooting monsters out of the world from every angle, yet only more were escaping the cover of the trees.

"We need to leave!" Called Veronica, I didn't listen. The whole world was drowned and all I had in front of me were the monsters with only one task: Kill  I made sure each and every one of them were sorry for ever thinking to leave their precious trees. Some of them had even moved away, sweat was running down my head and sprinting down my neck. I wasn't even only shooting any more, I was punching, kicking. Even the bravest would be running, but these guys only had one thought and task too, the same I did. But they were overpowered against the HTL and I was going to make sure of that, I shot through ones heart and it went through and got a spider in the head, some skeletons were riding on spider's backs but that made me even angrier. They wanted to fight and were going to fail badly, I knocked the skeletons of their spiders and killed everything in sight. There were noises echoing from somewhere far away but I didn't listen, and when every monster was down, everything rushed back to me in one, fast, lurch. I had used so much energy during that fight but having such a determined goal put it aside, I collapsed onto all fours, my breathing shallow, sweat dripping onto the mounds of corpses, rotten flesh and bones.

"V-Veronica?" Asked a female voice I recognised as Lyra's, I forced myself to look up and saw Veronica lying on the sand with an arrow protruding from her right shoulder, another blast of reality hit my face, Ryan was on all fours nearby,

"Veronica..." He muttered,

"I-I'm ok." Said Veronica weakly, "Just a scratch" Her voice was shaky, small and faint. She would die without help,

"Alex, your bow!" Said Lyra,

"Why?"

"Just pass it!" I gave her my bow and watched as Lyra strapped a potion onto an arrow, notched it, and shot it as far as she could back the way we came.

"What was that for?" I asked as Lyra handed me my bow.

"If that arrow reaches close enough to the town they will know that Veronica needs help and come here." Said Lyra,

"How?" I asked,

"Believe me," She said smiling; "They'll know." And after a small debate we left Veronica to get taken by the village and we set off further down the path. This could've been the worst start to a quest ever, not even knowing what we were looking for and two of us unavailable. After meeting a small clearing in the forest we sat down against trees. Silence. No noise.

I drifted off into sleep...
