Leaving Washdale

Ryan's POV

After falling with a loud crack on the wooden roof of the hotel I slowly lifted into the sitting position. I only had half a heart left. I looked around and saw the massive hole in the side of the building. Exploded outwards by the strange smoke. I lowered myself back into the room and quickly scrambled down the ladder and to the lobby. I pushed through the doors and out into Washdale. The townspeople around me looked accusing, and so they should. I brought this evil sorcery to the peaceful town after being carried away on the supply ship. I never should have been taken from Herobrine's volcano and thought to myself for the hundredth time what would have happened if I missed just one jump and burned away in the rising lava. I walked my way over to the docks where there were a few boats sitting in the water waiting to be mounted and used. Not the big boats that the suppliers got me from but the simple boats that could be crafted with wooden planks. I jumped into a cold damaged one that I was worried wouldn't last me all the way to the portal. But as it began to move swiftly and smoothly along the sea surface my worry began to drown.

. . .

After I barely made it to the shore I sat in the boat looking up at the black-framed portal. The purple portal swirling inside it. I wondered where exactly in the nether it might lead me? Hopefully somewhere useful with resources. Or close to Steve? Both of those options sounded appealing. I sighed and dismounted my boat and trudged along the sandy shore and through the portal. I came out in a small black room. There was a small light coming from ahead and I silently moved towards it. I looked over my shoulder and saw the nether portal there, there was a snippet of space in which I peeked through.

I was above Herobrine's throne! I looked a little to the left and saw a single cell where Steve lay unconscious. Cut and bruised with blood dripping from various places. Some including his lip, knee and head. Herobrine was sitting on his throne, completely still. I was more used to him being active. Having participated in battles against him for a while. All the same I decided it best not to jump through the small snippet. Herobrine would probably notice. Plus, Alex and Lyra were still out there, I'd seen the way Alex looked at Steve.... And I can safely say I ship it. But to the more pressing matters I took a quick look around the room again and all I noticed was a vent with the cover off and a pile of soul sand. I shrugged and instead of falling through the snippet I leaped over it. I guess that was Herobrine's quickest way of escaping if an attack came directly to his throne? I shrugged off the though and walked down the hall above the room. My footsteps echoed off the silent black walls but I guessed and hoped Herobrine couldn't hear them. I didn't really get anywhere I knew, the halls above the main ones were empty, dark and the only sound was my footsteps I needed to fight something, I don't know why I felt the urge to fight all the time. Maybe it was being half iron golem? They fought a lot. But I barely had any traits of an iron golem apart from the iron layer of flesh and steel skeleton. Which could still break but with difficulty. I wouldn't get any actual powers  until I became a guardian. Being only half iron golem, fate will set me with someone to protect with my life. If not, well, I think you can guess that.

Speaking of Guardians. I felt so close to getting one back at the jungle temple. Like it would be Alex or Lyra. But I didn't get one, I almost felt like staying at the jungle temple after the girls left to see if the feeling stayed with me but minecraft is more important than one person. Ryan, what are you saying? The one person I am getting paired with is in  minecraft! By protecting minecraft I'd be protecting him or her too!

I knew that the person I was to be protecting was still out there because if they died. Well, so would I... It wouldn't even have a purpose either. If they died I would just drop dead. End of story, no possible way to pin a reason on it. But if died he or she will just be sent to fend for themselves. That's why iron golems were made, they were made to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. The full ones would always be sent to villagers but the hybrids, half-breeds etc. Would be paired individually to other full humans.

"Get your iron backside over here Valve." I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around, It was.... Him

No, not Herobrine, not Adam but Rune, Rune was a boy around my age, he had brown hair, blue bloodshot eyes that used to be clear and kind looking. He used to wear glasses too but not anymore, weather it was due to magic or they were lost in battle I didn't know. He also had a dark shirt with grey sleeves. He wore pants and redstone coloured sneakers. Rune was one of my closest friends before Herobrine's age. I kept my head down at first but then one day I went over to Rune's house and I saw mounds of stuff, all something to do with Herobrine. Newspapers, signatures, sightings, pictures etcetera. At first I thought he was doing a risky thing and hunting Herobrine but then the door to his room closed behind me. I turned and saw Rune standing there, he tried to convince me to join him and follow Herobrine. When I refused and pointed to the newspapers (Which didn't tell of very pretty things) Rune accused me of betraying him, after slashing at my shoulder he was gone. Off to Herobrine's army.

Even though our friendship was like a rubber band with both of us holding each end and it hurt when he let go but I kept the rubber band. Waiting for Rune to take hold of it again.

"You can still join the HTL, leave the HA." I said pleadingly, "I can offer you protection!"

"I don't need your protection!" Rune spat "I've been living the dream here!"

"Fighting endlessly until you die in battle or one of you friends  kill you? Or Herobrine does it himself?" I asked,

"If I was do die in the HA, it would be fighting. And it wouldn't be to the hands of you!" He said the last word with disgust, as if it was a piece of gravel falling down when strip mining. He raised his sword, so did I.

"No, you will never die to the hands of me. I would never let that happen." I said,

"But I will. When I get the chance I will take the life that betrayed me!" Rune literally spat now, the saliva flew down the hall and landed in between us. I gripped my sword hilt tighter.

"One day this will all be over, you can come back Herobrine will be gone-"

"HE WILL NEVER BE GONE!" Rune shouted, his voice echoing miles away. "HE ISNT PUNY LIKE US MORTALS!" When he said the word 'mortals' I shivered, did he mean Herobrine was immortal? Will this battle for dominance last for eternity no matter how much damage Herobrine withstood?

And with that final thought Rune charged, I sighed, here I was stuck in a new fight and there was nothing I could do about it. He would gladly kill me but I would never lay a single mark on him.

Well, maybe a few just to escape.
