Summary:

After a long night patrol, Peter went to school on low sleep. Of course, Flash couldn't pass up the opportunity to be an ass.

_____

Peter Parker was late for school. He had gotten in late from his usual patrol the night before. Along with the everyday nighttime crime he dealt with, like muggings or drunk people stumbling home, he had stopped three bank robberies and saved five cats from trees; how did so many cats get stuck in trees in the middle of the night?

To put it simply, he was exhausted. He didn't even have the willpower to change out of his suit or climb into bed; instead, he fell asleep in his desk chair when he returned to Avengers' Tower.

FRIDAY woke Peter up late in the morning because she thought letting him sleep a little longer was nice. Without time to change out of his Spider-Man suit, Peter threw baggy sweatpants and a tight-fitting t-shirt on.

Tony didn't like it, but Peter had to swing to school instead of walking like a typical teenager would.

He skidded into his homeroom class only a few minutes after the late bell rang. The teacher gave him a disapproving look.

"Sorry!" Peter said quickly and took his seat. He ignored Flash's smirking face a few seats behind him. No doubt Flash would bring up Peter's tardiness later in the day, trying to get a reaction.

The bell rang. Peter's head snapped up from where he rested it on his desk. He hadn't realized he'd fallen asleep. It was unusual for him to be so tired during the day. It was also rare for him to stay out until almost five A.M. on patrol, so he guessed it made sense.

He grabbed his backpack and followed the throng of students rushing to class on time. Unfortunately, Peter had P.E. for first period with his best friend, Ned.
P.E. wasn't difficult for Peter; quite the opposite. Since the spider bite, it had become increasingly more challenging for Peter to hide his new abilities. Thankfully Peter had Ned around to keep him in check when Peter got focused on an assignment and forgot to conceal his newfound strength and agility.

Peter sank onto the bleachers with a sigh. Ned blabbered on and on about some Star Wars fact that went in one of Peter's ears and out the other. He was too tired to focus.
Coach Wilson stood before the group of teens with his arms crossed. "Alright, we're going to take a break from exercising today because some people complained to their mommies about being overworked," he glared at all of them, unsure of who whined to their parents. "Principal Morita recommended we play Capture the Flag, so we will do that. At least the boys are. Someone stole the jerseys, which means we're playing shirts and skins. Ladies," he gestured to an array of hula hoops and jump ropes behind him. "Pick something to do. Walk around the edge of the gym if you so wish. I don't care what you do as long as you move."

The girls grumbled at the unfairness as they picked through the offered jump ropes and hula hoops.

Peter turned to Ned, panic in his eyes. He grabbed Ned's arm to stop his own hands from shaking.

"What is it, Peter?" Ned asked.

Peter leaned in closer. "I'm wearing my suit!" he exclaimed in a frantic whisper.

"What? Why?" Ned switched to whispering too.

"I got back to the Tower late last night and didn't change before falling asleep. I threw on the first clothes I found this morning, so I wasn't late for school. What will I do if Coach Wilson puts me on the skins team?"

"Maybe he won't?" Ned offered.

Peter was grateful for his best friend's optimism, but it was useless. "With my luck?"
